I thought that my suggestion was a pretty good one. Obviously not for them, since they removed the post. These are the kind of galleries I don't like. And I refuse to live with it or ignore it, that's why I comment and be upset.

That is the problem with these kind of galleries, since there are still good galleries with decent prices and very good friendly service. I just replied to artrepublic's instagram. I guess they will not be happy with me. saw your post.... what a fucking joke this business can be sometimes Yeah i got the AR mail-shot too, clicked the link, went to the site then got in a row with the online chatbox rep lol

Whatever you do, don't go on the other board and question why galleries allotted prints from the initial run are differing in price from HMP. People lambasted me yesterday for questioning the difference in price between HMP and UTBNYC. Made me remember why I primarily come here now, as opposed to there.

Whoops completely forgot about this drop. I guess that must mean that on a subconscious level I wasn't really all that bothered about it after all ! I'm in the same place, got caught up in something else, missed it and don't care. I'm looking forward to seeing all those sleepwalkers in frames! im struggling to come to terms with the money people pay for this and I'd also expect Art Republic buy these at discount, so their margins higher? Secondary market purchasers have more money than sense, that's not my opinion but a statement of fact.......

Anyone who wants one of these prints just hold tight and wait for hype bubble to burst. Particularly in the case of the wheelchair one. It is amusing reading other art based Internet forum members all desperately trying to get their hands on these rather poor works.

I gotta agree with Letiss don't think long term these prints will command high prices. Hang tight and I'm sure you will be able to pick these up for less than you think.

I don't agree with that. Look at Dolk - pig. Worst print he has come out with until this release and its on the up and up as time goes on. Fact that Dolk releases once every year and a half keep it this way it seems imo.

Did Dolk or HMP as his publishing house cooperate with AR and supply them with their batch of the prints? If so, then they were as 'guilty' with regard to that practice as AR.

There's a few UAA trolls coming on here folks who're trying to cause trouble. They don't like the fact that this forum is still going strong and want the people here to start arguing amongst themselves.
Just ignore them.

HPM has deals with galleries to supply them with prints for resale. different galleries get different allocations. This isn't an uncommon practice in the print game

No faith/trust in their own products?

I'm sure there's some people on here that could provide you a more clear answer. I have mixed feelings about it myself

I have mixed feelings about it myself For insecure artists and greedy galleries it is a win win situation: limited supply on the release (because of the prints given to galleries) produces sold out drops and proves a certain demand. Galleries enabled to immediatly ask for higher secondary market prices due to that demand drive the price level up for the next release. Could it be all about the hype?

I don't think that it is, it's more to do with loyalty and I don't really have an issue with that, Art Republic have been supporting urban art for years, I bought WSM from them in 2004 maybe and they have been promoting Dolk since I can remember along with numerous other artists...
They provided an outlet for the artist and publisher from day one and it's right they should now share in the profit. It would be more outrageous if when the artist became more recognised that they were abandoned, or at least that's my view.

I always thought art Republic were one of the better ones. But to increase that much on the same day is seriously wrong, have they changed their prices? Or responded?

I have always wondered why if people just buy to flip, why doesn't the Artist or gallery just sell at a higher price in the first place and make more money for themselves? Sad for the small fish but really if this is the case the blame can only be laid on the flippers.
