Great image! IMO a little custom work on the banding from the computer separations would make it much more appealing.

Self Portrait #1 Unoriginal I know, but I've wanted to do some of these for awhile now, and finally found the right frames for them. http://instagr.am/p/85zAMShuus It is a great framed oil and hey, at least you didn't use a star wars character

I should preface this with I am not a fan of young Mr. Biebers work. The artist is Retna, him I am a fan of...thoughts? Best show name to date

I am still in awe of the effect of the images that Dolk and Banksy, this in particular i have got a large image of it so click through and have a look, it doesn't even look like the original would have been done with spray paint the effect is almost like a charcoal drawing with the shading on the copper. Remember reading years ago on the other forum that banksybhad another artist draw the stop and search? Any one remember this? He did a pretty good job on the Dorothy stencil at Barely Legal

Massive single malt whisky nut here. My obsession has taken me to Scotland many times visiting most of my favorite distilleries and have been lucky to meet and become great friends with several of my favorites as well which has made it possible for me to put a nice touch on my events. Last few were generously sponsored by Grant's with Glenfiddich & Hendrick's which I thought only proper to serve up a top shelf bar with great art and even better to have it on the house. Glenfiddich aside, Macallan and Glenfarclas are my other favorites but I have also been finding some fantastic single malts from Japan as well. Really love a smooth cherry oak single malt and a nice cigar with it doesn't hurt either, but that's another thread. Oh and a talented bartender never hurts either. Nice shot from our 2013 event.

Just completed the two test sprays of my newest stencil of Iron Mike Tyson. Huge inspiration on my boxing as an amateur some years ago. 18 layers on birch plywood. Great work. I would only suggest that since you are putting in so much time into these pieces, being 18 layers ect, to possibly translate the shade / color separations yourself and not just duplicate the computer posterizing separations. This method results is a very digital looking image and takes away from the handcrafted feel on pieces, especially for those who have digital editing knowledge, which today is more than ever. Even if you took the shade bands and smoothed them out and created your own contours it would make such a huge difference. Of course just a suggestion and a personal preference. I do know many others feel similar as well. Keep up the good work!

Brilliant interview! As for the movement away from street art… When you close your eyes and think the words “street art” you would see garbage like Dface, Mr Brainwash and other plebs. No wonder no one wants to be associated with the term. Street art is now “mural art”, “post graffiti” or “Urban art” and so on. Whatever term they can make up to try flog the same type of shit with a new brand name. Is that a move that you’re making as well? My work is now part of the “I still write shit on walls but I need to pay my gas bill somehow art” movement. It seems interesting that something curated by Banksy would steer clear of those genres. If you can count out five street or graffiti artists on your right hand who would be worth curating right now I’d be impressed. Not to sound like a cunt but it’s all unoriginal boring shit for the most part. There’s a lot more contemporary artists doing killer shit then grubs with spraycans.

really ? I would take MY fish and run ! While the attendant was busy knocking my rod around (oo-err), a woman successfully hooked a duck on the other end of the stall. She cheered and the attendant whipped his head around, slowly walked over to her, unhooked her duck, threw it back in the water and said "It doesn't count because I wasn't watching". Harsh I hooked my duck with the attendant literally pressing his cheek against mine with the occasional shoulder bump. Was f'in hilarious. He was so into throwing me off he wasn't looking at my progress and was talking when he should have been bumping. Have my mine re-inflated and hanging next to my bling chain. Priceless experience.

Very interesting. With members like this we could have found Bin Laden in 2001! Trying to avoid this thread until the opening. Bin Laden was actually found twice confirmed by the Delta ground forces and both times they were instructed to let him go by the "higher ups". Go figure! But that's a different thread for a different board lol.

You can stop by and see the Banksy in downtown LA. S Broadway Parking Lot (at W 9th St) This is now actually under plexi in an alley since they are building a massive complex next to it....but nonetheless, still there just harder to find.

Main top picture 100% photoshopped but still excellent idea. They'd need some seriously still water to get a mirror image like that. The top image was partly edited to make the experience more powerful, the reflection to be clear and fully possible to enjoy during a calm day (see last image). Well I think it's not just having the white reflected image area a photoshop solid graphic but the lack of natural perspective makes it look even more unnatural and 3-D in nature, when the real reflection would be distorted from the perspective making it look flat on the water. Anyway ... great in theory but as you said would need glass still water to get the desired effect.

Ray Bartkus’ upside down wall in Lithuania Raising awareness on the way we look at objects, Bartkus intentionally painted the mural upside-down so that the swimmers, rowers and swans he depicted would be reflected right-side-up on the river Šešupė, which flows through the city’s centre. Wow, that's brilliant and very clever. I would love to see that for real. I'm looking on my phone and it looks like the top picture has been photoshopped. Very nice find. Main top picture 100% photoshopped but still excellent idea. They'd need some seriously still water to get a mirror image like that.

Was damaged. Quite a few issues with it. You obviously didn't see it in person. I did. I used to be involved with a rather prolific print house, we had a name for customers who would return brand new hand pulled screen prints because there was a fingerprint or smudge of ink on the reverse. We called them 'Americans'. 1) Tapes to front mount at 3 places along upper sheet verso, 2) A very soft surface abrasion in the grey background in the upper left image only visible at raking light, 3) Slight skinning at places along upper sheet edge verso, 4) A few soft handling creases in the margins, otherwise in excellent condition, the colours bright and fresh. These are the exact condition notes from Bonham's above and pretty easy to see this piece is questionable at best. Your visual "inspection" is obviously off and in general it is impossible to assess condition without seeing the piece de-framed, front and back and under proper lighting conditions. I myself have dealt with one or two prints myself and we have a name for grading works by looking at them on the wall....we call that "Negligence"

does anyone know if someone has cataloged/documented every print/canvas editions, one-off's, installation pieces, street pieces etc? I wonder if they kept track of the canvases back in the day when they were selling to friends for 10GBP a pop or if they know every piece that's been painted on a wall. surely PC would have some sort of catalog to reference, or maybe they just show Banksy and ask "eh, remember if you did this?" I'd imagine at this point Banksy's catalog raisonne would be approaching Warhol's in thickness Even though Warhol never did street work his "catalog" includes several hundred thousand works including the 20,000 pieces just released in 2012 by his estate. Banksy will never come even close to what he has produced even counting the di faced tenners.
