Hi all, Lately I have been busy wrapping up a large research project, which I have been working on since the release of my first book, The Street Art World in 2014. The result is a richly illustrated book of 117 pages entitled Street Art and the Environment. The book includes work by – among others – B anksy, B ordalo II, Isaac C ordal, John F ekner, Paul I nsect, P ejac and Ernest Z acharevic. I have attached a short description below. he price of the new book is £17.99 plus shipping. Like with The Street Art World, I am publishing and distributing the book myself. As an independent publisher, your support is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of this new book (or The Street Art World), please send a DM through the forum or visit streetartworld.bigcartel.com. If you want more information about the book, feel free to contact me directly or post in this thread. Thanks for reading. Can art change the world?
Issues like climate change and unsustainable natural resource consumption are climbing ever higher on the international political agenda. Scientific reports, media coverage and information campaigns advise the public about these complex matters, including the environmental impact of human activity. It can however be difficult to engage people with facts and figures alone.
This book examines a number of environment-themed artistic interventions. It suggests that street art, partly due to its unauthorised placement in everyday settings, is well-suited to shift attitudes and behaviours. The book also considers how online viewing may affect the experience of artworks and, in turn, their potential to influence people regarding the environment.
Peter Bengtsen is an art historian and sociologist. He has been writing about street art since 2006. His first book, The Street Art World, was published by Almendros de Granada Press in 2014. ------------------------------------------------------------- streetartworld.bigcartel.com-------------------------------------------------------------

http://instagr.am/p/BbY9WSTFlxe I'm currently busy working on my second book, so I am not spending that much time on the forums at the moment. However, I wanted to let people here know that I have a new article out on graffiti and street art scholarship.
The article is freely available until 29 December 2017. More info here. ---------------------------------------------- Read more about The Street Art World----------------------------------------------

Could you clarify what you mean by "the nerve"? It is unclear to me whether you are using it in a positive sense (that he is getting up) or a negative (that his work is poor and that he has been getting attention because of who his dad is). In relation to the former, my understanding is that Brainwash owns real estate in LA. I suspect that some or all of these Hijack paintings have been made on those family-owned buildings. I should make clear, however, that this is just speculation on my part. Edit: I see that the last photo is from London.

The Street Art World on AmazonHi all, As many of you know, I published a book entitled The Street Art World a while back. So far I have mainly been selling the book through word-of-mouth, but in an effort to reach a wider audience, I am currently experimenting with listing it on Amazon.com. If you already own a copy, I would very much appreciate if you would go to the listing and voice your opinion about the book. As I understand it, this may help bring the listing up in searches. The listing can be found here.

I have just published a short text on Vandalog about the supposed uncovering of B anksy's identity. It is mainly about the flawed study that came out in March, but also mentions the most recent media speculation. A longer article on the problems with the geographic profiling study of B anksy is freely available here. http://instagr.am/p/BJ7mHGogbmS

this: "It is probable that the authors chose to include the name because of the media attention their work could potentially attract by doing so." you nailed it... while I don't doubt their methodology, a) using Banksy as their example seems nothing more than a ploy to raise the profile of their article and b) people have a right to privacy, even vandals, and publishing any suggestion otherwise is just a further example of basic human rights, as in the right to lead a life in peace and quiet, being slowly dissolved i'd put their article in the same category as un-warranted wire-tapping and drones. unconstitutional and just plain wrong The method employed in the study is actually also flawed. I will post a link to my full article once it has been published.

http://instagr.am/p/BGt3n8KHA-2 Two days ago I gave the opening keynote at the third annual Street Art and Urban Creativity conference in Lisbon. In the talk I deconstructed an academic article recently published in Journal of Spatial Science, which uses geographic profiling to ostensibly reveal the identity of Banksy. Some of you may remember that I have previously posted some of my points of critique related to the article here on the forum. More info about the talk can be found here.

Ulrich Blanché is actually co-convening a conference on street art in Berlin in July. I will be presenting a paper there.
