wuick thread for people to post images of the show. Loads on IGram but not everyone has access or uses so thought this may be a good way to keep a file as it were of some of the great images around. Also mean you can avoid if they do not want to see before they go
on tubes at mo so will do mine shortly

I'll get the rest of my dismal pictures on Photobucket later, but here's a tagged Wall's (ice cream) bin that made me chuckle like a mad thing.

The hand coloured drawing was a really special piece lee3 his sketches just never seem to come up unfortunately, i love them. I liked the way it was displayed as well ha Shit, i didn't mean to put that in there. Agh. Thanks for the note, i'll remove that. I thought that was non public - i hate technology some times. Fuck me- jetlagged And i suppose that means all my kid shots are in there too. Stupid stupid stupid. I think it's fixed, carry on. Thanks

>>>pictures of your kids are still up<<<
Thanks, i left a couple up (mostly from behind) which were intended just not the onslaught typical of a proud father. I gather the lesson learned is do not share a link to an album on flickr even if some photos are marked private. i'll probably just delete the entire album and begin a new one.

Did your kids enjoy it, or are they now disturbed for life? I was planning on taking my 11 and 8 year olds, but the other half said no. They are girls and without being too sexist, I think boys would take it differently. Good thing now, we can get pjssed up and get a dirty kebab after

That was 10 days into a European vacation Chevy Chase style where i made them do about 60 miles on foot (no kidding) in 4 days in Paris and then London and brisol and the little one had the biggest melt down i have ever seen in Bristol the day before open. Thankfully, we had a babysitter for Thurs/Fri & Saturday nights. They were at dismaland from about 5 on Saturday to an 8 pm pick up and loved it. It was mostly locals due to the ticket fiasco of that weekend but just nice people all around asking them questions and telling stories. They didn't get to ride the ferris wheel however and were pissed (i should say angry for the brits) that the babysitter was picking them up at 8pm. I don't blame them as that's about when the time the park transitions from truly dismal to drop dead gorgeous with the lights. They've been spoon fed a healthy dollop of art their whole lives and mother and i have chosen not to shelter them with that stuff. That reminds me as we were doing the picasso museum in paris they were laughing hysterically and pointing at everything saying "inappropriate" like young boys do. But, they wore their Dismaland T's proudly yesterday to the first day of school so they're happy. They didn't like Cinderella too much but otherwise loved the show. The whole family really liked the Paco Pomet works especially. That's as close as they're ever coming to a theme park under our care however. We did one a few years ago and hated the whole thing so this show was more up our alley- twisted. But, i do hear you loud and clear that it's different entirely for young girls who grow up adoring princesses and whatnot. Still, how many chances do you get to do something like this in your life so why not? If it bombs, it bombs but at least you tried.

I have exactly the same thought of kids being to sheltered from what is really happening around them (as Banksy is trying to show adults too). My kids always come to galleries with us as well and normally really enjoy it. Maybe after seeing it myself, I might take another trip there with the kids, an excuse for me to go again

>>> I have exactly the same thought of kids being to sheltered from what is really happening around them (as Banksy is trying to show adults too)<<<< He's got a sick way of showing it and we love him for it. Who else can get away with that Cinderella piece? I like to think that in that painting, the child can see the tidal wave coming and is (in some way) equipped to survive it. Rubber ring, snorkel, etc. If I'm in a positive mood, I like to think it's suggesting that the next generation has a chance. That while our generation might be happily oblivious to the ecological tidal wave that we've helped to create, our children can face it with open eyes and may be able to survive the hardships of the future. It's unlikely that the child purchased that swimming equipment itself, so you could also see it as suggesting that we, as parents, have to provide our children with everything they need (and not just material items), in order to have the best possible chance of life in an increasingly unstable environment. If I'm in a negative mood, I think it's saying we're all fucked, but let's go to the beach and buy shit, YAY! Oh crap, that's what I did on Tuesday. Fuuuck!

She even got a job collecting empty pizza boxes from tables and stamping on them afterwards. She got paid £2! Will take her back again next week sometime.
