According to what i read earlier, the UK has accepted 216 Syrian refugees thus far. We all walk under the same sun, we must do the right thing.

I simply can't understand why we are so reluctant in Europe for accepting refugees. It doesn't matter what religion or background you have or if you are poor or rich. A refugee is running for his/her life. I am an active half-marathon runner and I run 4 a 5 times a week. I got a special running app that records every km I do run and it automatically makes a donation to the refugees organisation by my sponsor that pays for every km run anytime. It may be not much, but it is something to help.

Not for the first time in my life, I feel utterly helpless about this shitstorm of suffering that we are witnessing.A century of meddling and neo-colonial gerrymandering around the globe has produced this, the biggest movement of people since WW2. And our domestic political / media system is so utterly fucking twisted and inward looking, all we hear in the dailies is fucking jobs and benefits bleating from selfish cunts who have fallen for this vile propaganda.
And we sit at fucking night and tug ourselves off over how much our shitty fucking banksy prints have gone up in the past year, whilst giving a reach around to arriviste cunts in the other place who bang on about needing to spend $100K on an investment piece.

maybe we can start a fundraiser? anyone have any ideas? Perhaps we can do what we always do? Art sale. And perhaps anyone planning to put a quid in the boat game at Dismaland, make a donation towards aid for refugees instead. In fact, while we're at it, let's all constantly remind ourselves to keep a sense of perspective in our daily lives, don't be dicks, show compassion and get our priorities right.

maybe we can start a fundraiser? anyone have any ideas? Perhaps we can make a petition ourselves that each of us can sign if he/she wants to and share this on FB/Twitter/Instagram to make media/politicians and public aware that a whole group has concerns. Its just a thought, but I think awareness is also important in this situation.

if anyone has good links to decent charities ( i.e. not motivated by any ulterior motive apart from assistance) , post 'em up.

If you're in Europe, just keep emailing or writing to your local MP, asking to know what they're doing to help. Let them know how you feel. Let them know what you'd like to see happen.

And engage with others on this topic. Talk to people. For many, their only source of information on these events tend to be right-wing newspapers, what they see on TV, and gossip. Try tackling or disarming bigoted or ignorant opinions with facts, figures, statistics and good old fashioned human decency.

I've donated to these two in the past: www.syriarelief.org.uk/www.handinhandforsyria.org.uk/don't know if it makes more sense to get a lot of people to donate items, or to get one or two "big ticket" items and do a raffle tickets. what's everyone think? I can start contacting some galleries to see if anyone's willing to donate. get in touch if you have a good lead/contact

The help has mainly got to come before the refugees make it to Europe. So many dying just trying. The refugee camp in Calais is grim and hopefully being sorted now but they are the lucky ones. They're alive and won't be bombed or shot there. Governments and poshlititians are useless. Are they really the most highly educated people class and money can buy? I'm with Drplip, give them he'll in an email and look out and after your local refugees. The homeless. They're everywhere too and not in the news. Winter is again coming.

That's cool of you sɐǝpı ɟo uoıʇɐɹǝpǝɟThe other way of doing it is to build a section on this forum, each thread can be an individual piece and then people can "bid" on each thread? Saves all the eBay messing, but suppose it gets more visibility on there

Although we are doing well on the artist front, if you have a good relationship with any artists or galleries can you drop them a line? PM sɐǝpı ɟo uoıʇɐɹǝpǝɟ or myself if you need anything
