was thinking of doing some sort of semi-regular project on here to help support up-and-coming artists, or folks who just dabble.... something like maybe every couple of months, we'll have artists submit images and we'll vote on them, and the winner will get their image made into a print... 10 prints or so of their image for them to keep or sell for themselves.
what's everyone think? open to suggestions

It has potential no? think it could be a lot of fun, but don't think I'm smart it enough to think it all the way through. should it just be that simple - submit your design by xxx date and we'll vote? gotta have some sort of limitations so I'm not having to make a 13 color print. maybe first month would be a one color/layer image, next time 2 etc?

Sounds like a nice idea I want to try a screen print, but the costs are too high for all the layers I'd want. I was thinking of doing a Kickstarter to fund a run, not to make any money, just to cover the costs. Unfortunately I don't think I'd have enough people wanting a print for it to work, and I'd just look like a fool. Boo hoo

Boo hoo think we've talked about this before a while ago but forget where we left itc- I think you can make it work affordably and cleanly with halftones - you'd only need one screen. happy to work on it with you, or feel free to submit it once this goes live

Yeah i think I'd like to try a full on replication of the original though, with all the layers. Probably just aiming too high for now though

Yeah i think I'd like to try a full on replication of the original though, with all the layers. Probably just aiming too high for now though my personal thought is, if you'd put all that money and effort into making a full layered screen print, wouldn't it just be easier for you to continue to sell them as originals? if you're gonna pay someone to do the full print, you'll probably have to end up charging more for the pritns than you do for the canvases just to recoup your money. i think a half-tone screen print would be a separate option for those who can't afford a canvas and minimal cost to you. I know I'd buy one as you know, I'd love a canvas but can't afford one. would be happy with a hand-finished print

Probably just aiming too high for now though just to give you an idea, as an example I quickly bitmapped the canvas you donated for the auctions. if you zoom in you'll see it's all made up of half-tones. you would be able to keep most of the detail and contrast

Yeah I see what you are saying Fred, but the reason for all the layers is to keep it like the stencils. Cost is a massive issue unfortunately. Maybe I should have a closer look at your idea, and see some samples

anyone interested in submitting something for this? you've got nothing to lose and could come away with some free screen prints of your own work

It's something I'm thinking about. Trying to figure out how to get nice depth and perceived details without loads of layers. It is pretty tough going cutting stencils for a month for one picture!

I know this is a repeat of your cult stickers, but..... DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! I'm sure Dr. Plip will agree
