Goldie has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) which, by my reckoning, makes him the first graffiti artist to be awarded an official honour in the UK. I would like to think that it's in recognition of him pushing the Birmingham and UK graffiti scenes forward in the 1980s and 1990s but whoever typed up the official announcement doesn't share my wishes unfortunately 
. For the benefit of anyone who's not from the UK, the New Years Honours are kind of like the Légion d'honneur, which JonOne was awarded last year, but often with more than a generous dollop of political nepotism thrown in for good measure.
