I have a Banksy 'Love is in the Air' print to sell but waiting to hear back from Pest Control. As it's a numbered print it seems self-defeating (and anti-street art ethos) to go to the hassle of acquiring a C.O.A. The fact that it has an individual number should surely be sufficient?

Yeah but anyone could print one out and put a number on it. The COA thing kicked off due to the high value of these prints now and that many people were being scammed by fakes. It would be foolish to spend £5k without proof of authenticity  |

Strikes me a public list which involves a sign in membership, maybe thru a forum like this, could be set up & the latest owner could register ownership...could have invisible owners if so wished; would be much easier...and speedier!?..don't wish to teach my granny how to suck eggs tho  |

I believe a buyer would feel more comfortable if a coa comes from the organization connected with the artist rather a membership forum of which a buyer may not have access to it nor is a member.

If it was a closed forum maybe, but it's pretty easy to join...and getting a COA can take up to 6 months atm...!? Seems an unnecessary & slooow process...obviously different for paintings but the existence of numbers could provide a useful identifier  just a thought... |

This method, although sometimes slow, seems effective. Gives both the buyer and seller peace of mind. People know they should never, ever buy without pest control. Too many scammers selling on gumtree etc without pest control.

Give me your edition number and I will number up my u/numbered u/signed LIITA and I can produce a LITTA that is as legitimate and worth at least as much as yours at this stage.
