I love it there too @paulypaul. Was there a couple of months ago to see Krill. Have tickets to see Unknown Mortal Orchestra there in September. A great band in a great venue. I can't wait.
Agree that if people don't like work then feedback should be constructive. If an artists work isn't good (popular) then they'll learn that through sales (or lack of). They don't need negative, almost abusive criticism. There's another forum where people can go if that's your bag.

One of the best critiques I ever read was regarding a terribly garish piece, awful on every level and was just two words - "My eyes!" Anyone remember what that piece was? Funny you say that, one of the funniest things I heard about something hideous was some guy saying "That just gave me Forest Whitaker eye!" Might have been in a movie? I don't know, but it's still funny shit. (Refrains from utilizing an emoticon) |

Let me get this straight, last place sucked because someone was banning on a whim without considering member feedback and bogging us down with silly rules. So now we have a proposal for rules here suggesting the comment "it's shit" is vague? Pretty fucking direct from my vantage point. Not that I've even seen someone retort "it's shit" in the "show us your latest art buy" thread, but that will be awesome if/when it occurs. Something to be said for tough love. I'll second the motion to ban emoticons save for the most sarcastic of circumstances.

Brudenell. Love it there and don't go often enough. Last time I was there was to see Jim Jones Revue... Anyway, a couple of things about 'this place'. I'd like it if critiques of work were, well, critiques. Rather than 'it's shit', speak about why you think it's shit, what makes it shit for you, and how it might become, erm, not shit? If you can't do that, then shut the fuck up, your opinion has no value... And, if anyone ever types GLWTS, or similar, they should be fucking killed.
