Hi All
Just signed up to the forum after coming across it after the Stik Sleeping Baby sale at the Homerton Hospital. Oddly the sale was not publicised on site. Stik is very popular with staff as so much of his work is in the local area. So many staff were a little disappointed to have missed out, hopefully by being a member on here I will learn a bit more about art and gets the heads up on sales etc.
Many congratulations to members who picked up a 'sleeping baby' It's a very striking image.

Hello dales. Welcome to the forum. It's great to have you here. Are there any particular artists that you admire or would like more information on? We're better than Google.

Hello dales. Welcome to the forum. It's great to have you here. Are there any particular artists that you admire or would like more information on? We're better than Google. Thanks for the welcome, most of my taste in art is more traditional. I'm a big fan of the pre-raphaelites and impressionits and the likes of Toulouse Lautrec. From a collecting point of view I tend to buy film posters and promotional items rather then actual "art". However, I am one of those people who see's something and either likes it or not rather then I specialise in a certain artist or style etc.

Welcome to the forum dales. What are your thoughts on east london gentrification? Maybe best not to say but it was rather sad what happened to that cereal killer shop. As well as working in East London I also live in Hackney and so have seen how much the area has changed over the years. That's life you can't expect everything to stay the same and maybe one day I will get priced out of the area. From an art point of view it's a very interesting place to be and all the street art that is available is certainly starting to change my views on modern art. So now while I still enjoy my more traditional artists I now appreciate a few newer faces such as Hush, Faile and Stik.

I quite like a bit of Impressionism alongside a bit of street stuff. I recently got quite attached to Walter Sickert's work. Film posters are an excellent and often overlooked art form. I love cheesy 80s posters or anything that's classic horror. And there are some brilliant movie promotional items out there. In the last 10 years or so, film and TV studios have become really creative with the items that they use to promote their shows and films. In some cases, the promo items are better than the actual movies. Anyway, welcome and enjoy the forum.

Welcome Dales. I am not in to film posters.. but would love an authentic 'Zulu' film poster up in the man cave Thanks for the welcome, it's been a while since I have seen a Zulu poster for sale. The old quad posters don't come up for sale that often. I guess most of the odler posters where for promotional use only and most would have been binned.

To be perfectly honest Plip... I think I may well be WAAAAAAAY out of my depth in here... I've only just started doing this in real terms and to be quite honest I'm looking at some of the aspiring artists and I'm nowhere near anyone's talent.... Not being self deprecating in the slightest but christ there's some talent here... I'm genuinely in awe just now

I try to work with as few layers as possible (which is translated into more details per layer, something that I need to improve, as it takes ages to cut them). Welcome, drunknjim
