we've lost a few true geniuses in the past few years (thinking Lou, Bowie, and Prince) and unfortunately it seems that the world as a whole (not counting devoted fans) doesn't seem to show their appreciation until after they're gone. so I was curious, who do you consider to be true geniuses? that word gets tossed around a lot, but who truly deserves that title? use this thread to show some love while we're still lucky enough to have them around.
game changers... pioneers....innovators... visionaries... whatever you want to call them - the artists, authors, musicians, scientists, philosophers, who have truly made a a world changing impact or were so ahead of the curve that others are still catching up
I'll start off with an obvious one, but someone very dear to me.
Brian Wilson

Eno for sure. besides his brilliant rock and ambient albums, and his work with Roxy Music, he played a big part in sparking creativity in Bowie, Talking Heads, and countless others

Jeff Mangum - more as a lyricist than a musician.... one great album and one good one is too thin a body of work to put NMH into the same stratosphere as some of the others, but the lyrics to ITAOTS stand out as one of the great poetic achievements of the past 20 years

sometimes it's easy to forget the obvious. we're so used to them being here that we forget one day they won't be. we take too much for granted

James Dyson- what a fuckin guy! Never have my carpets been cleaner and no need now to wipe my wet hands on my jeans now. Still yet to experience one of his desktop fans, but I'm sure they will blow me away!

Jimi flew so close to the sun ( 3rd stone) Colour , hayuk .. Aha , hense , nove , colour - done well Imo , is a sign of genius.... Design , newson (heatherwick .. Fecked up with the bus , the bridge was cool though) Lines , Matisse ( geoff is trying , but not quite there yet) Oh and yes David Byrne , a man from another planet oh and he actually has something in common with me...
