Mr. B's been awfully quiet lately.... you'd think with all the craziness around the world in the past few months - Trump, Brexit, anti-women and anti-Muslim rhetoric ... that we would have heard something from the former anarchist activist. wonder if that lends any credence to rumors he's retired or passed the baton?

I would very much doubt he has retired and would expect we will hear from him soon enough

I would expect to see some action emanating from stateside soon on a slightly different note, do people think the person who painted the atrocious Steve Jobs piece (and maybe the Les Mis) is the same person who painted the pretty sweet tire fire piece on that Bristol school?

Not sure what to think about that. I see where you are coming from, different styles and not the classic look of a Banksy, but I'm wondering who else should have done it... And why would he let do it somebody else and then say it was done by him? Regarding the monkey parliament painting I agree the theory that he had massive help painting it. Because he doesn't seem to be the painter with enough skills to do that alone. He had a good idea but he needed the help on this one. But he is a master in stencils. So why should he ask somebody else to do it for him? Not enough time? Not saying that you are wrong, but don't really understand why

Not saying that you are wrong, but don't really understand why I dunno. just don't think that Steve Jobs looks like his hand style at all... plus the proportions and perspective seem off. also the idea itself doesn't really have any depth behind it. seems like a very shallow, poorly done piece. his shit has traditionally been either very crude, or very perfectionistic.. don't recall any other piece he's done that's been so mediocre. Les Mis piece too and given it's no secret Eine painted a lot of the rats back in the day, I wouldn't be surprise me if someone else painted these. but who knows. maybe he just had an off day

Totally agree. The style is very different! And the rats story makes it even more plausible... Hopefully there will be a book one day which explains everything! On the other hand, the less you know the more you can talk

He has regularly used different styles though for his work one only has to look at better out than in. Over the month all very diff.
Think he flicks through diff styles to suit the pieces, message and the location.
So I do think he did both pieces. Other people doing and signing for him creates far too much opportunity for fall outs and then people releasing I did it not him etc etc etc

I was confused by the Jobs piece but not for the art itself. It felt like Banksy used a recognisable figure to illustrate a point about refugees, yet that man represented all that an anti globalist would be opposed to and is up there with Thomas Edison as being fast and loose with adopting other peoples intellectual property for power and profit.
Was this a compromise of idea and branding to reach a certain target market as a result of a management meeting at Banksy Inc, or just a bunch of shit that didn't work ?

Steve Jobs just reeks of mediocrity

And to use such a polarizing figure as Jobs to make a bigger point about refugees.... just seems like a stretch but as a decision made by management.... seems plausible but that opens up a whole other can of worms

You mean other than Kate Moss? Or Winston Churchill (or did he not do a wall piece on those?)....
I actually liked the (both Steve and Mis), but was struck on the colors used... Reminded me of the doctor love???
Carry on...

I liked the Sphinx. I liked the placement.
I liked the ants 'cos, y'know, it was like a pubic bush. I laugh a lot at dick/pussy based graffiti and art. A quickly drawn spunking cock and balls is often the only comment needed. There is a page on Facebook called 'Drawing dicks on the Herald Sun'. Some creative motherfuckers on there

I meant a street piece.... only one I can think of is Charles Manson and that's not exactly a current reference Plus Kate was done as a bday gift to Kate anyway, and the Churchill he stole flat out

Edited: and to ANT I enjoyed both of those... especially the Sphinx... built brick by brick and dropped off in a busy area with no one noticing... what's not to like? least favorite was probably "The Musical" and - I know I'm in the minority' on this one - the Central Park booth stunt. I could probably write an essay on what I didn't like about that one, but I'll admit as a PR stunt it was clever as fuck
