Gauntlet Gallery San Francisco CA.
25 April 2015 – 15 May 2015
Gauntlet Gallery is proud to present its latest Group Exhibition Triumvirate in the Gauntlet Gallery 1 space.
Ten artists have been selected to participate in the exhibition opening on April 25th from 7:30-10pm. Each artist produced a set of three works to be viewed as a mini-series, allowing each work to stand alone while at the same time carrying a conceptual connection to each other. The display, determined by the artists, will vividly show the independence and relationship among the set.
Artists from the Bay Area, to the East Coast, to South America including Akira Beard, Alex Garant, Fab Ciraolo, Graham Curran, Jason Bryant, Justin Kane Elder, Phil Noto, Rebecca Adams, Roland Tomayo and Sam Lamott have created paintings, digital works, and sculptures ensuring Triumvirate will be a wonderful mixture of creativity and style.
Gauntlet Gallery is proud to present Speculative Hunting, an all-new solo exhibition by Mako Miyamoto (curated by Sven Davis) in the Gauntlet Gallery 2 space.
Mako Miyamoto is a Portland-based photographer whose Wookie-themed ‘Neon Werewolf’ photographic series explores popular culture themes amidst the guise of a pop-culture icon.
Placing human characters in a variety of familiar contexts and scenarios, Miyamoto uses the mask to explore human emotion; and reveals a wonderful depth of expression in his subjects - all through a veil of shaggy hair.
His direction of each series of photographs is as cinematic as the principal character itself and contains a welcome level of humor; location specific, planned and storyboarded, and partly improvised with his subjects and collaborators during each shoot.
The exhibition will feature 20 photographic works – each available in two physical and edition sizes.
Both exhibitions open at Gauntlet Gallery on Saturday April 25th from 7.30-10pm.
Mako Miyamoto and several Triumvirate artists will be present at the opening.
