There was also a separate 20 mins programme showing the alternativity in its entirety. The Alternativity performance ran for over an hour, there are vast chunks missing in the TV version, it's very much abridged.

That's just the 20 min 'Part 2' that's already up on iplayer. If the actual play was an hour long, i guess they're just not showing it all?

what's the verdict? was it worthy of Danny Boyle and the BBC's time? (haven't seen it yet) the news of another full length feature-film in the works is exciting New film ? Amy more info ? it was in the Guardian article, I believe... same producer as ETTGS (Jamie Cruz) edit: it was in the FT article: "A film of the whole project is under way, directed by Jaimie D’Cruz, who worked with Banksy on his 2010 documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. D’Cruz tells me that, even for Boyle, it was hard to hire equipment here. And although it is happening only a few hundred yards from the nearest checkpoint, three Israeli photographers declined to take pictures for the FT" it's already up on IMDB www.imdb.com/title/tt7752132/?ref_=nm_flmg_prd_1

finally watched the BBC Doc - favorite scene was Danny Boyle speaking with his friend, about projecting adult irony onto children was wrong. bravo Agree ! I also keep on thinking there is another level to the recurring "children" theme in the movie (not projecting the irony, not showing them the wall etc...) I mean, this isn't actually a BBC documentary by Boyle is it ? It is a Banksy stunt, where Boyle is pretending to shoot a documentary so that the BBC will air it... So nothing there is to be taken at face value, it is scripted, and all for a reason (the lady not sure about the accepting her role as assistant part, the parents unhappy about the setting, the daily scenes of the plight of the locals, the chap with his sword at the Balfour thing etc...) I am wondering what to make of the whole children thing? Is it simply that they have a white heart and that hate is taught / bred ? Is there something else ? Am I overthinking this ?

Nobody is born hating another race/colour/religion... that is taught religion is taught too. and its really sad that most squabbling is among followers who believe in the same creator.... like a family punch up, but worse.

Religion. Fuck me. Imagine if Sunday morning television was all about astrology, or homeopathy? Tv programmes dedicated to pursuits that involved the subjugation of women or LGBTQ people? Money taken from the poor, to...
You know what, I can't even be arsed to wax lyrical to demonstrate my disdain. If you believe in gods, you're a fucking moron...

Watched the documentary yesterday and had a good time! Boyle seeing the wall for the first time, locals talking about graffiti tourism, kids having fun acting... Definitely worth watching it! Not as tricky as I thought it might would be, but I guess it was addressed to "normal" people not being used to Banksy and not to guys like us Just out of interest, is there a way to find out how many people watched this as it was on television?

Hey, was a good insight, albeight Banksy's way to get coverage.. loved it though. In UK the viewing numbers are slightly different as its on BBC iplayer, an example, 1 million could watch it on tv when it was on, but many many more will watch it 'on demand' for free, at the time they choose (new times make viewing at your choice). The numbers normally come out after 1 week. Hope that helps.

I know it's Christmas and all, but the world would be great without religion, religious excuses and any other religious related way of escaping from the reality of the fact that we are human and God doesn't exist..oops, I said it..

You know, as I get older I am starting to lose my disdain a bit. I know a few people who are CoE and they pretty much spend their lives doing good works. Like Selflessly, not just at Xmas, but all year round. My BIL for one- a scientist - runs a department in a major hospital- each night is doing something for others via outreach and food inititives. You would not know he is a christian at all. never talks about it.Lovely fella. When travelling, I have tempered my once legendary hate for all things religion and do actually go into Old churches now just to get some background- some of the structures are quite stunning. I did some PG stuff at a well famous University opp north- litlerally had a norman cathedral a few metres from one of my seminar classes. never went in the place until recently. Fucking hell. its pretty impressive. Obviously the loons on London bridge in the morning do my cake in, especially when they harange the commuter vermin about the end times. We wage slave commuter vermin have enough to deal with without worrying about the day of reckoning hanging over our heads. Indeed, this new pope- yes he is a rascal with possible iffy connections to the Argentine Junta over the years but you can smell the the rather unique Latin American liberation theology seeping out from this bloke. lots of negtives but some positives. Remember that that old reactionary bastard JP 2 vigourously opposed LA Liberation theology. Ratzenberger hated them, accusing them of being marxists. There are other niches hidden away that suggest progressive elements are still hanging around, some outside LA as well. Worth a read of you have time Like much of this lot, you only pick up on the more verbose and belligerent, the more subtle nuances of the alternative voices are often lost in the white noise. etc
