Just read through this thread from top to bottom. Interesting. Had I seen Peng's installation Curtain, I don't think I would have seen the art, but rather the animal cruelty. In a weird way, I have the same reaction to veal. The taste is lost to me because I fixate on what is done to calves to produce veal and don't enjoy it no matter how it is prepared. I tend to like art that is shocking, disturbing, or forces me to think outside the box. But as others have said, animal torture isn't necessary to elicit these feelings, emotions, and thoughts.
