I had the same reaction. Saw the news report and figured it was just another ‘it’s a stencil so must be banksy’ headline to get readers. A fairly decent effort for a stencil piece, but it’s miles behind what he is capable of and has been doing recently. |

Well, the article describes the new art piece as 'mysterious',
similar to 'two coppers locked in an embrace',
with a similar colour scheme to a piece in Brighton, 2014,
with additional pieces to be found in London, New Orleans and Vienna.
Laura Starky saw it on Scott Street Bridge a couple of days ago.
So, who knows?

The lack of shadow under the legs bothers me (perhaps more than it should). It almost looks as if the character is more or less floating in place rather than sitting on top of the throwie.

non political, not social commentary, just fun for the end of the year of culture.
Its nice to see something that would be hugely difficult to remove for some personal gallery.... perhaps thats part of the choice of location.

What is a bit weird, is that they ( who they ? Banksy-PR to approve it ? ) wait a long time to say It’s a Banksy. Even Fragile removed the pic from its IG , but Fragile is not Banksy  |

I doubt about the lettering also.. as it was not part of the piece or less important .. |

fwiw it's a work which is in the right place , bridge going nowhere , place going nowhere.. brings debate - plenty of get rid and plenty of keep it , 'it's a dream come true'.. not sure about the latter there. nice of fragile to take it down - means nothing tbf - if anything increases the proverbial debate. qed it's b .. imo  |

OK. So what exactly do I see here? I read the article about the big old painting, so I got that. Than I see two different pictures, one with a living colored bird and one with a dead bird which seems to be a reference to the old painting... The stencils of the girl looks identical. Are those two in hull too? And are both new and people think they are by Banksy too? Or is it an old one which got modified (with change of background)? Sorry but it's the first time I see these images and not sure if I understand it. |

^Neither one of those girl and birds are banksy. That girl and bird is attributed to him all the time like the panda and guns and people have tattooed themselves up and down with both images mistakenly attributed to the wrong artist.
