The Lighthouse Keepers were an Australian band that I first came accross in the mid 80’s. I don’t know what happened to them, but they were at one time one of my favourite bands (during my Triffids/10,000 Maniacs phase!), and I’ve rediscovered them recently and played little else. Here are a few favourites. All from the LP Tales of the Unexpected, which I still have maybe 35 years on. What is not to love? Gorgeous vocals evoking a vulnerability which is slightly haunting. Strong base line. Upbeat guitars. Often brass and harmonica. Just lovely.
