Put one in a cart and......'product out of stock'
What an absolute disgrace.

Shit, isn't it. Obv they banged out 30 to their mates, then piss people off. Great business model?
I'd have liked one of these but banned myself from buying from flippers so will wait. Last year I got fucked on trying to buy a house to live in so often but eventually I got a better one than all the others, this is a piece of paper. It's not relevant, there will be others.

Anyone regret their purchase? Never made it passed the "Please wait, processing your order..." spinning wheel of death thing

Printthemall's FaceBook page has deleted the comments I put on about the release! It seems they don't like being told that people feel cheated by them pre-selling 30 prints first and don't want others to know that this was going on!!

Pre-sales happen. Nothing new there. The odd thing to me was posting (which is now deleted) that they were going to drop the prints at a later date and time and to check back for updates, only to drop them 10 minutes later without warning.

So basically the artist / agent is happy to use and abuse the forums but equally happy to bend them over on release. Here and on the other side no one seems to have got one, so exactly where have they gone I wonder?
An embargo really is the only solution comrades....

Does everyone else pre sell half the run though? I'm not being shitty, I just wondered if this were par for the course?

Yeah, that was bad form. I guess they only had a handful left and didn't want to go to all the trouble of planning another day. Still in the end it's just ink on paper.

Pre sales are fine but then say there's 30 available on the drop.
However, as someone has said it's just ink on paper and I'm £500 better off than I would have been if I'd have got one!
I guess it's the underhanded manner of the drop that pisses me off. Oh well, there's people in Nepal with no homes or food or water so people missing out on a piece of paper is absolutely insignificant.

I can't help but feel like this drop was exactly like the Retna release for Eastern Realm through Smogtown13, aside from the $2,500 sets being offered to those who emailed after the alleged "sellout"

I had no interest in this print, but come on.... Only an edition of 60 for an artist with his fanbase? and they're lithos... wouldn't have been hard to print enough for the demand. They're playing the game

You'd be lucky to see it in this day & age though

This release is just following a trend in incredibly poorly thought out Dal releases. Just look at the 'charges' against Mr East. 1. The questionable orienteering for the Adrenalin print around London which allegedly ended up with people getting multiple prints. 2. The competition to take photos around London which ended in the dubious prize of a tiny stamp book. 3. The Newcastle prints which allegedly had gallery employees calling queuers 'print monkeys' and demanding photo ID.
Now, I really like Dal's art but he really needs to get a grip of the way he deals with his multiples or else he's going to piss off even more of his fans.

It doesn't appear to be easy for Dal fans to acquire editions. Do you think that might also deter new fans?

Dont like daleast' stuff so an easy pass. He doesnt seem to be too interested in his reputation judging by his selection of galleries. allowing to stain your name for the sake of 60 prints just shows he is either not smart, doesnt care or is ill advised.

I think that is a bit unfair - once he moved on from SAN (which I agree didn't go well) he has shown with Lazarides and Jonathan Lavine. That's a fairly well trodden path and I imagine they would have influenced how multiples were released. That said, I've never got near a print so clearly room to improve!

There were complaints of 14+ being presold at JLG last release as well.

I know but I don't think Dal has much control over Laz staff? No, as it's never been easy. To be fair, this was probably one of the best chances to get a print of his (maybe except for his 1st print release if you were on the ball). His last two prints didn't have online drops, and the Adrenaline release with SAN was half in-person as well. Then the other half were completely random over the course of the entire day. I remember people refreshing for 12+ hours for a chance at only a handful of prints. Even if they did pre-sell half the run, that left 30 or so up for grabs today, and if you had stuck with the refreshing for a bit, you might have got lucky

And I've had great transactions with all three of the mentioned galleries. I don't know how they do all of their business dealings, but all three have been very professional and courteous with me numerous times.

Larger galleries could care less about the print releases. It is all about developing and keeping the OG collector base happy. If it means tossing in prints (which they do) for large OG purchases or to charm prospects...it happens!
