Philippe Vergne from MOCA asked me if I would be willing to work on not only the graphic design identity system for the MOCA/Sotheby’s Spring auction, but to also create a fine art piece for the auction that relates to the design for the auction itself. I was excited to explore this concept because we live in a culture of compartmentalization but I believe that things are far more fluid between the fine art and design worlds than many gatekeepers are willing to acknowledge. Of course all of this was in service of an institution I believe does a lot for artists and should be supported by artists. This led to the concept of symbiotic support and creative freedom for the institution and the artists themselves facilitated by this symbiosis. My screen print is based on the painting I created for the auction, once again playing into the concept by yielding a more graphic version of a fine art piece but with a clear relationship to it and a lower price tag. I’m a populist so all of this works for me, hope it does for you. – Shepard 18 x 24 inch screen print on cream speckletone paper. Signed and numbered edition of 400. $60. Limit 1 per person/household. Release date: May 12, 2015 at 10am PST in PRINTS

So many releases with almost always large editions, some even open, I wonder how many signed Fairey prints are out there?

On average, 15 releases per year? While the editions are large, I really appreciate that the prices are always low. I really want to have the "Hope" print, but I believe there are different editions of that one.

My preferred one is this one ( I biyght it on eBay the day after the release , I never can catch an obey print at the launch : sold out in seconds,my computer ( that seems dead now ) was too old and slow.. Imperial glory is mine and I like it www.obeygiant.com/prints/imperial-glory I don't own one but that along with the POW(er) are my two favourite Sheps. Holding off from grabbing the signed offsets of these because I keep telling myself I will get hold of signed & numbered editions. Might just pull the trigger anyway though.

Shep could do with hiring a quality control officer. I am a fan but his work and releases would have so much more impact if he didn't release 624 prints per hour. Getting more and more hit and miss.

I agree : too many prints kill the print and the supposed art. It becomes marketting, brand etc... Invader is becoming a bit like this, he has to take care if he wants to keep crediblity for his real fans of the first hour...

Art for the mass !! Go Obey !! "Too many print kill the print" - Not for the galleries; since many are stockpiling Obey's print and putting them in shop at 250 GBP-350 GBP I don't mind the brand-like marketing and the brainwashing, after all we are used to that and we need to obey ! Beee beee beee * I only have one Obey print, the Martha Cooper one

I really want to have the "Hope" print, but I believe there are different editions of that one. I once inquired about an OBEY piece. The asking price was $30K US. I was obviously struck then landed on my ass and completely ignored any incoming and follow up emails from the seller. It was from Pressure Printing's Secret Stash. Apparently a very limited number. So here's how to get to it: (*tRiCk) Go to Pressure Printing Home Page www.pressureprinting.com/Hover over their logo on the top left. You'll see the "SS" turn red as you pass over it and click. There!! you'll find the secret Fairey pieces'. When I saw the OBEY brand selling wallets and stickers.... I lost my enthusiasm sort to speak. But, his work has probably influenced and inspired hundreds of thousands, so it works for him. Clearly there is a large market demand for his work; and he's obviously meeting the curve.

Available on Tuesday June 2, 2015 in Prints at 10am PST I've not bought or attempted to buy a Shep for a long time (Obey Star letterpress being the last) but for some reason I quite like this. The fact that its an open edition makes me like it even more, no fear of missing out involved

Can't wait for the Loom Letterpress. Love the series and hope more classic images like Big Brother 2 and older Andre images make the cut.
