interesting but a bit weird u obviously don't have kids? Jana Brike - Goldilocks' Holiday(c. 2015) 16 inches by 12 inches, oil on paper This is my 4th painting by the artist. She's based out of Latvia. It's my first non-canvas work by her. This painting is currently on exhibit at Modern Eden gallery in San Francisco, California. About the painting, Jana writes, " This painting is an emotional self portrait of certain experiences and feelings I went through growing up. It is beautiful to me, and very personal."

interesting but a bit weird u obviously don't have kids? Jana Brike - Goldilocks' Holiday(c. 2015) 16 inches by 12 inches, oil on paper This is my 4th painting by the artist. She's based out of Latvia. It's my first non-canvas work by her. This painting is currently on exhibit at Modern Eden gallery in San Francisco, California. About the painting, Jana writes, " This painting is an emotional self portrait of certain experiences and feelings I went through growing up. It is beautiful to me, and very personal." It's fascinating to hear that you perceive this artwork as "weird". Most find it breathtakingly beautiful. This painting received an overwhelming amount of positive response in its recent exhibition. The gallery owner informed me that it was by far the most popular piece for the duration of the group exhibit. Jana Brike, the artist, is actually heartened by this, but she is actually shocked and disappointed by a few select comments being made by people who are seemingly projecting their own thinly veiled sexual hangups. I'm not a parent but eventually will be. And even then, I won't have any qualms about displaying anything in my art collection, and that includes nudity. That would be very sad, if not tragic, to have such phobias about the natural states of things. I think I'd draw the line at displaying any kind of art depicting physical violence though. It's just my belief that raising a child in a repressive environment where nudity is forbidden is more dangerous to the long term development of a child's psyche than having them learn about a naked human body. Anyway, this is what artist Jana Brike wrote a couple days ago in an interview at WowXwow.com. It directly relates to your second implied comment that nudity or even partial nudity is weird and that the young should be sheltered from it. Please read: I find it somehow very crooked and disturbing that we put such a taboo on a young girl trying to find her own inborn natural sexuality on her own and establish a loving relationship to her own growing body in a very personal way, in accordance to her own nature cycles and in a safe accepting loving environment. But at the same time, we are comfortable with a fifteen year old fashion model posing in adult clothing as this objectified and fetishized sexual fantasy for the onlooker, either for an adult male to drool over, or for an adult female to try to equal. Or, that some so called healthy member of society would look at an image of a playful naked child running around (even if it’s just in a simple, beautiful painting), as this potential sex object, and not just as this little free beautiful wild being that radiates plain love and harmony to be within its own body. The entire interview gives a ton of insight into her life and work, which are inseparable. It is actually quite inspiring. For anyone interested, check it out at the link below: Jana Brike - Mature Innocence Artist Interview June 16, 2015wowxwow.com/artist-interview/jana-brike-ai

Saw this on the bay and had to pick it up. Nice early Swoon linocut on pillowcase (lol) with paperwork from the benefit auction. It will need a reframe though. I'm going to call it "Bed Head".

love that Peter Blake! how much was it at released? Is it a screen print or a giclée? It was £80 on the day and in my opinion it was a lot nicer than his other print sold on the day - I think it's a giclée but need to check.

Having been a little disappointed with the Futura yesterday (not sure what I was expecting for £25 but there you go), today's delivery was a real treat - screened and hand painted J Opie invites - lovely thick card and great colours - and only £25 each!
