The forum's very French today. Which I like. Yeah, Paoualouez-vouuos Fouançais ? French fries wine and baguette are not only the unic way ! De Gaulle told one day that the French people were " veals " ! But De Gaulle is to Goal , and ot my cup of tea too... In the history, we are not too clean each together ( I am sure that I would not happen in UK ) , a bit hypocrites too ... Well, anyway, I will put an annunce on the forum ( fora ) : I would like to go in UK with my son in the beginning of july : is someone knows a location not too much expensive for us ? ( we can exchange with my flat in Strasbourg too - nice country and town ) ... You will can eat some choucroute and I will leave you a bottle of champagne...

come on guys, don't you have better things to do than starting threads to gossip about artists ??! Entering into arguments with people you never met behind a screen is beyond my understanding... and not really the reason why i want to spend my time on an art forum... choose your battles wisely guys
I think you've mistaken this place for a knitting circle of deaf mutes, good luck finding a forum where people don't share opinions.

What I care about is his art and artistic process, and frankly from Les Bosquets, to his middle East side by side portraits, to his African Indian and Latin American portraits of women, Cuba, wrinkles of city etc etc I truly admire him as an artist and I think there is more to it than organise PR stints and making a ton of moolah off the back of poor unsuspecting fans The rest, who cares ? Artists have mostly always been twats, that doesn't make them less of an artist
Christ second post and between this above post and all the French bollocks and backslapping matey shite Im ready to ditch this place

"French Bollocks" I assume you don't speak/understand a word of french then ? We were mostly civil to each others and having a small banter... Not sure I'll miss you if you "ditch this place"... Surely we'll see you around somewhere else anyway ;-) Peace

Funny (and a little informative ) thread this... I liked his work and use to wonder where all the cash came from to produce the huge scale works? The TED speech turned me off him, then his work with parla in Cuba was awesome so it turned me on again, Now not bothered what he does although the misses likes his latest ballerina print and it does look good. Thesedays I have French artists in my top 5before anyone else. Don't own any but would love an OG piece by Rero, Joneone,Latlas.. Don't know him as a person but as an artist I always liked C215 early stencils along with Logan hicks..

Sorry, stars, artists, famous guys, queens, kings and politicians should accept critics adn bad words too, even gossip ones. The rich wants to eat the poor, but the poor beats the rich. Price of success, never cry for them ! The French deaf mutes can talk too.

I'll let everyone know if Bono is there Yes Ellis Island is an awesome project. Rather to buy a 999 hundred priont of pounds, better buy th ebook I guess ! Jr is to collect in books ( as all great or not photographers, as the Invader ones - + stickers, balloons and kits ;-) , or to see in real, prints are ok but not more. As said Notmatt, first ones were great. This one was great too : JR "Wrinkles of the City - Robert Upside Down" And this one too ( but too much expensive for me ) /

Yes, my dear friend, but we all know that all the stars like to go in the South of France ! Even Angelina and Brad ! It's very Parisian, Brigitte Bardot, St-Tropez, Festvial de Cannes, etc.. to go there, a bit snobish as Parisians going to Deauville the we ;-) well, My words are nto the truth... ;-) What's wrong with Cannes & St-Trop' my dear dodcoquelicot ? ;-) I'm going there in 2 weeks, bloody capitalist !!! ;-) See, not only parisians love it there, even some (rubbish) urban art fan like me who grew up in Strasbourg travel there ;-) Hehe !! Best time to visit St Tropez is in winter to avoid all the tourists I used to go a lot as my best friend was "Le Baron" of St Tropez, I spent most of my childhood holidays with all the 70s/80s St Germain clique (went to amusement park with Hallyday, played pétanque with Eddie Barclay, etc.). I can say there are two worlds in St Tropez, the regulars and the tourists But DodCoquelicot latest comments stresses a French particularities, French are very ashamed of richness, making money is taboo in France. sakyamuni - no gossiping on my side, real facts and real story. JR is looking for 50,000 euros. Looks like a joke but it is not ! Here is the article in English -https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.liberation.fr%2Fdirect%2Felement%2Fvarda-et-jr-comptent-sur-votre-generosite-pour-partir-en-goguette_10072%2F I agree the rest can be considered as ranting... but unlike some, I always first engage with the person directly. I wrote to JR's email and posted a comment on his FB asking where are the art centers he promised and where all the money from his "Inside Out" gone (I tried to calculate 200,000 x 20 but my calculator bugged ) Last post here, bye !

Nail in the coffin, to send you off : i am French. even worse : je suis Parisien Allez au revoir ma couille, innit I know, I remember your " beaujolais nouveau " and we have spoke in the other side of the wall... I always like your posts and your avatar. My comment here was stupid ( maybe If I could afford to buy a JR print I would not talk like that, anyway, To answer to another memeber, yes JR have subventions by Culture, Municipalities, ministers, museums etc.. ° . I think that it is a big trust, with a terrible - in the good way, I mean a big PR and " Pasters " of Posters lol - crow ! Is it street-art ? I don't know, it's such a " cultural" and " official " thing...) . Sir poledance , yes I know, it was easy for me to already speak abiout xenophobia. But I think that you are suffering or " Foraphobia " . You have subscribed yesterday only for this thread ( and to criticize members and French baguettes) and your 6 posts or comments are against members of this forum ( or of all the world's fora ! ) .. Maybe you are the Suprême Intelligentsia flying over the seas of mediocrity, standing up at the watch and waving your black flag, lauching darts to fora natives, guests or invaders... Who knows ? .. From the other board too ?

notmattl , I lived more thant 20 years in Paris and know it as my pocket - so I have nothing against Parisians -, and have played in a lot of bands. I even played with members of the Bérus, Négress Vertes, etc... After the JR crew that was my crew ( I am not on the pic, nor Beatrice Dalle that came a bit later on ) .. The underground punk catacombs crew ! ;-)
