When i heard about the WCP Happy Choppers being sold as a genuine Banksy without coa by a "reputable banksy dealer" it was the worst case of negligence by a broker id heard of, this however is immoral, i hope the people who trusted this company get something back.

There's a long thread at The Other Place about this. Rubbish news for all involved. Very disappointing and surprising to me as I've bought several pieces from Opus over the years and never once been messed around.

I only bought 1 piece a year or so ago, unsigned gwb, not a good experience in the sense it was described mint/framed, i asked them to send it unframed as id be taking it out anyway to check it, it arrived framed and when removed it was taped all round with cellotape and a quite a bit had been sliced off the top, the pencil line was still there where it had been marked to trim, i was refunded ok and Emma was friendly but before id even shipped it back it was up for sale again at the same price. Needless to say i didnt go back.

I'm sure we have not heard the last of this story / I hope we've not heard the last of this story.
Emma, i hope , has a story to tell.
I feel lucky not to have been in market during this - my views on dealers is clear but with many you do have to exercise care.
(I tend now to deal direct with artists - which it itself can have its issues).

What puzzles me: Did they think they get away with this and live a happy life on their farm in France? How does the mind of these people work?

How does the mind of these people work? it puzzles all of us. they MUST have known - what was coming down the line. Given what others have said Emma had a good repuation - how could this change ? It's difficult to come to a judgement so early but the odds are stacked against them ... currently - could this change ? I'm not sure.. how it could. Could .. literally have happened to any of us...

They really shouldn't have been allowed to get away with this shit for a second time. What's the betting they can't resist opening up another gallery somewhere.

Their is a saying, not to judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes ... just a saying.

In my ten plus years of experience in this (online) hobby of ours, I've learned a few things. One of those is that is seems like it is really easy to rip people off and get away with it.

Joking aside, any one of us could find ourselves in the same unfortunate position as those two. "There but for the grace of god..." and all that.

I've personally had a difficult time with Opus, caused me quite a lot of stress I really didn't deserve, as a result perhaps spoke in a manner I normally would not like to in order to get what was owed to me. Despite this, I don't feel in a position to wish that they loose everything. We know they have a family, and we don't know what drove them to behave in this way to others, I can't be sure it was just greed. Someone in the other place has already mentioned that they themselves had been ripped off by someone with much more weight than them. So while I'm not suggesting you try walking in their shoes, perhaps a measured response in what you might wish for them is not too much to ask for.

Being ripped off by someone else does not give one the right to rip off someone (others) else.
My wish is they pay their debt to the affected as well as to society.
Carry on.

France?? Call me what you like but I'd be taking a short trip to reclaim goods to the value of and then PITA money
My gut feeling is they took advantage of the mindset of many sellers and buyers and are now sat on multiple acres laughing

To fail means you've tried, theres nothing wrong with failing, everyone fails in life. How you deal with failing is what shows the true measure of your character.
