Hi all, During the last release of prints from Graffiti Prints, I purchased the Mau Mau Mask Fax A/P, it stated it as Unique, and thought it was a nice print, bought, job done. Next day I noticed it for sale again, so curiosity made me attempt to buy it again, surprise, I could! 2 "Unique" prints, now that is unique, I thought. Today they both arrived, very nice, but 2........ After contacting Graffiti prints I was told that it was a mistake, and they had just cut and pasted from another print sale. Buyers beware and double check, has this happened to anyone else? Interesting to know as I wouldn't have known if I hadn't bought 2.

Suppose they offered to give you the second one free as there was only one of them when you bought both
Ps well spotted

They said if I send it back they will refund me, guess they can then sell another "unique" one. They have now removed the word unique from the site, but I still have the screen prints and e-mail confirmations...too easy to do I guess. With no COA either, it's really guess work how many are made...sort of makes you think I guess

I had a conversation with an artist over AP's. He didn't number AP's as he classed them as One-offs I said not necessarily so and they needed to be numbered. What makes a print a Proof? Is it testing colours/finishes? different to the edition?

I was wondering (If there are any lawyers on here):
If they are selling them as unique, when in reality they are not (as the OP just found out). Isn't this technically fraud? And should the OP contact someone?

Tell the Artist they might not be aware or happy.

It seems with AP's PP's that they are not generally numbered, so unless you get one signed, numbered and with a matching COA it's guess work. Contacting the artist may help, but they may also push a couple out on demand and we may never know the actual amount out there. As with this one, I have since found out there maybe 6 of them! I think we can call this a grey area, I don't have much experience in this area, maybe an artist or someone on here with knowledge could give some sort of guide to how these are released and logged.

Hello
Finally registered
I would like to point out it was a typo it should have read just artist proof
We fully agree it's wrongly advertised and I hope we have done all we can to sort that out!
We do not issue COA where it has not been issued by the print house e.g HMP or SOS prints as they would not be worth the paper they were written on IMO
I have always said I don't agree with proofs being numbered as there not an edition there a proof.
I know some have big editions on proofs etc but we only order 10% more prints on any edition size and some are always faulted in that
i only buy direct from artists or two other print houses and I 100% I trust them and there ethics.
I think there well priced for what they are and a good old print at a great price I was very pleased to buy them and sell.
sorry it had a typo but that's all it was, questioning our ethics over it, is a storm in a tea cup.

Think you have every right questioning GP.
Not just for art but for anything - When businesses get sloppy, it's good it gets highlighted on forums so the public/prospective buyers deserve to know what they are dealing with.

The point is, I found out the "typo" by pure chance. How can we be sure what's correct or not, after I purchased it, it was shown as out of stock on the site, job done. Next day when I checked, as I always do to see what is available, it was available again....so in my surprise I tried and succeeded in buying it again. If I had not done this as a test, I would believe for now and ever it was unique and none the wiser. An honest mistake, of course I believe that it was, but maybe it's been a good QC kick in the pants.

Was probably just an honest mistake as I have heard many good things about GP. BUT the art / print business is a slippery slope as we have seen time and time again (most recently with Opus) and GP just needs to be little more careful or they might join that crowd.
