Grace Brett, who is 104-years-old, might look the epitome of sweet, elderly innocence– but there’s an actual possibility that she might just be the oldest street artist in the world.
But while she isn’t tagging walls with graffiti cans, the great-grandmother is part of a group of ‘yarnstormers’ who are covering monuments with adorable knitted designs in the Scottish county of borders.
Explaining her civilised street art antics, Grace said: ‘I thought it was a really good idea to decorate the town and enjoyed having my crochet included.
‘I liked seeing my work showing with everyone else and thought the town looked lovely.’
Explaining her mum’s passion, Grace’s daughter, Daphne, 74, added: ‘She has always knitted and crocheted all through her life. She has always done all the knitting for the babies and made shawls.
The ‘Souter Stormers’, as they’re known, yarn-bombed Selkirk for a local arts festival.
Kay Ross, a spokesman for the group, said: ‘Grace has confirmed that age is no barrier to participating in a contemporary project.’
Age is just a number, y’all.
