went up yesterday to check out the Hoyland exhibition at Hirsts new gallery..
2 things
The winner is the space. Its a beautiful setup and well located. we even drove 'cos we knew the area and knew a parking spot that would be free on weekends, even though its only half an hour on a bus. Again, the space is stunning, even down to the work done on the 3 sets of stairs that take you to the upper viewing gallery.Pharmacy2 isnt open til 2016, but i am sure it will provide a competitively prices range of snacks and meals. There was no gift shop that I stumbled on, certainly not one that you would exit through. If I miised it, it is becaiuse it may have been tucked away somewhere obscure .Not far from the fetish sex pits of Vauxhall either
The Art did nothing for me I am afraid. Its all big and works well in the building without particularly grabbing me any way. Sorta reminded me of what I used to see walking into the lobby of an American merchant bank HQ on Wall street in the mid 90s. The experience of shiny toothed corporate sanctioned big format meh art has probabaly scarred me for life, so best not take my word for it - you need to check it out yourself.
Worth a trip if you are in the environs but maybe not worth a long trek to that London just by itself. Unless you are there to view the space .Wasnt too busy.
