I really have to point out one book by Will Self - Book of Dave - I bought it. for my last trip to Thailand and it took me the whole six weeks to read (quite long of you think about the things to on a small island.....eat,sleep,read,swim,drink,repeat) but I read it it in english and as a non native I had to read out parts loud to get the meaning of the words.....most hillarious book I've ever read!!!! short example what it was that hard for me..... "An ee sat wiv me wyl Eye red beim öl fing - coz Eye can dú fonix nah - an ee mayd me tayk i awl on bord so az Eye can caul i ovah, rì?" Good book. An interesting idea from Self that is slowly revealed as the book develops. Bit confusing in places though

I'm currently reading this charity shop find. It's in German, which I can't read, so I'm not sure if I can claim to be reading it. It's so pretty though. Just look at how pretty it is.

Great idea to start this thread. I'm reading 'Nowhere to Hide' by Glenn Greenwald. It's about the Edward Snowden NSA affair and is gripping yet scary stuff. So I picked this up and am about 3/4 of the way done, fascinating read. The author (and snowden) obviously have a very clear view on surveillance and its potential dangers when done behind closed doors. The scope they've revealed is shocking but I wasn't as surprised as to the desire for the data collection. I think it's hard in a world were most of us desire safety to balance that with our desire for privacy. It's a interesting conversation and one I think the author demands us to have even if I don't agree with all of his conclusions. Thanks for the recommendation.

James bond by ian Fleming.. Half way through live and let die and just completed casino royal Casino royale is a great read. What struck me was how outdated the gadgets were. Understandable I know. But even so. Top gadget? A device that let him know of HQ needed him, so he could find a phone and ring them!

That's not all that's outdated never mind his thoughts on Woman, the French, Eastern Europeans and well let's just say his thoughts on race... Very of its era and really does build a believable character.. Really enjoying them so far

Currently halfway through the Jack Reacher set of books and bang up to date with The Walking Dead graphic novels or comics depending on how you view them..If you enjoy the series i'd highly recommend giving them a look. As good as the series is the books are far, far better...

As good as the series is the books are far, far better... Great series of books with some good nuggets of factual info mixed in. Couldn't believe it when they chose tom cruise to play him in the movie.Talk about polar opposites in stature.

Jack reachers books are a good fun read. (when I saw Cruise in the movie, it really didn't work)
Bourne identity books by Ludlum are great if you like Reacher. Much better and a different story line to the films
I am more a Sci-Fi dude though, love Peter F Hamilton, real mind fuck, looong, but great fun

Currently trying to clean my storage rental and found some of my book collection.
Not going to set the world alight but grabbed a few James Lee Burke books for a bit of escapism,Either that or a hit the fentanyl! (I jest!)

Last book I read was the Wasp Factory, well worth a read... Good book. I read it having no idea what it was about (beforehand). Pretty crazy stuff, what with all frank's 'issues'

Just started the Death Trilogy by Terry Pratchett. Felt moved to read something by him following his recent passing. Most enjoyable thus far, am very much warming to both his style and his sense of humour. I'm about to start these as well, shame something happens like his passing, to give me an urge to start reading his books I've always loved his books. Youthful escapism.
