Brandalism has returned to hacked 600 advertising spaces around Paris. They've put up works by 80 different artists to coincide with the COP21 climate change conference which is taking place in the city. The works have been put up in advertising space owned by JCDecaux who are one of the largest advertising companies and one of the official sponsors of the COP21 negotiations. But, isn't it a bit surprising and a bit worrying that under the current heightened security that such a large project could be achieved?

They're only putting up posters – perhaps security forces have other things to worry about. I think this is great work.

Try putting these in that volume in JC Decaux spots in central London and the chances are you'll get nicked. I'm aware of the odd anti-Met Police ones a few months back, but not 600 in a few hours. Nevertheless there are some excellent images amongst them.

The heightened security is focused on terrorism traditionally defined, so art and graffiti are probably flying under the radar. Posters and ads are frequently changed, nothing unusual there, and the presentation of the "imposter" art was as slick as the originals they replaced. And remember, street art is intended to change the way we think or perceive things around us, not kill or mame or destroy. Dissent is both a right and an obligation [if governments don't act in the best interests of its people], so thank God [or if you are a Druid, the nearest tree] that the heightened security doesn't stop the art community from active dissent with the status quo.

Some of these are absolutely great, gutted that I wasn't able to see them in situ
It is actually quite appalling that this went undetected. For sure it is nothing to do with terrorism, but the French govt have been trying to prevent any form of protest around the COP21 and this just shows how crap they are at doing this.
Pretty sure they have been listening to phone call and scanning emails to protect the good citizens from the dangers of Eco-terrorism...looks like all that tapping of phones is really paying off huh ?
Well done Brandalism crew
