Bit random And not art related but here go's. My other half wants to buy me a watch winder for my birthday. And I have found one I like on the Internet. On the UK version of the website it's £1000, on the US version of the same website it's £285 ($420). Which is ridiculous. So what I'm wondering is if anyone across the pond is willing to help me get one and help avoid customs? And I'll send a few bits your way for the trouble. :-D

That is just weird. I had no idea such a thing existed. When a watch isn't being worn, I just sort of assumed it sat there. Being a watch. You learn something new every day. Forget even more.

i'm so confused. i guess a fancy watch requires a fancy gyroscope It also serves to make the watch more decorative, spinning away in the corner of the room.

Hahahaha. This thread has become very entertaining. Fed you make me laugh! Yeah, I have a few of them. The ones I have are single boxes that my self winding watches go into when I'm not wearing them, so they stay wound and keep the correct time. Not code for drugs I swear

Not code for drugs I swear dashboll always overwinds his self-winders. Plenty of energy stored up in his watches from his wrist movements. Geddit?

I am so old skool, I use little silver things that you put in your watch every few years. They work great and I don't need to take it off and put in some astronaut gyroscope thingy

My first watch was purchased by mail order out of the back of a newspaper. When it arrived, I noticed the watch hands were painted on. Good times.

I enjoy the intricate workings and skills involved to build watches, self winding or battery powered. Enjoy!

This Christmas I've certainly been educated by this thread. I had no idea about this issue. I've always just put a watch on and changed the time if it was a little out. It never occurred to me to put it in a thing that keeps moving it. I could attach it to the dogs collar I guess as a trailer park alternative. They do look cool. I think I will stick with the tried and tested 'alter time, wear' method though. Let me know how you get on (not that I own more than 3 watches to neccesitate this) as I'm genuinely interested.
Regards

I've got one watch. I've just watched the video. I'm going to sell everything I own to buy another 15 watches so I can get a 16 bank watch winder.
