The photo showing the "mess" looks too clean... Methinks those flatmates staged it... But, who knows?..

I wouldn't hold out much hope for Air BNB covering the claim - they do offer insurance but its for 3P liability claims against the host by the renter as far as I know. Their claim would have to be against their own insurance for loss and that will be refused if they have not disclosed the air bnb facet of their gaff. Now they have gone public, they are fucked most likely
pretty fucking stupid people but that doesn't excuse the theft or anything
eta, there is a host guarantte insurance but its quite narrow and sorta relates only to house fabric damage, specifically excludes art n shit.

Having used Airbnb on a number of occasions, It's a scenario I've been anticipating for a while now. There has to be people out there who scout places 'to rent' only to steal stuff. This story doesn't surprise me one bit.

I wonder if it was registered with Pest? That way at least the C.O.A could be withheld. Mind you why on earth would you leave any valuables in your home when you're allowing complete strangers to live there ......looks like they had a bit of a wild weekend in there too. Too many scammers around to ever trust this type of set up, it could always work the other way round too where having stayed somewhere you are then accused of stealing something that you hadn't. Way too dodgy a deal for moi.

If they report it to the police wouldn't the print be covered under their house contents insurance cover? But then If they haven't submitted the true valuation to insurance company they will get 90 quid back..

The claim would be booted out unless they had informed the insurers they were letting the place, irrespective of the £££ issue.

Those are discarded balloons, not condoms. you sound a little too certain. On an unrelated note, I tried to drop you a line to your airbnb account but it seems to have been deleted?
