Hello
First post, argh!!!
I'll do you a brief synopsis of what I do - Kicked out of the RCA mid 90's, got a proper job, started painting again 4 years ago and thanks to a combination of pretty well received work, dedication and the wonders of the internet and its global reach I'm doing ok out of. I don't/can't categorise what I do, but people who like and follow street art tend to be interested in what I produce, but then so do children and old women. I've done street art pieces (currently have one on St Georges Walk, Croydon as part of the Rise Gallery initiative) but mainly I 'graffiti' vintage paintings, build dioramas and paint 'epic, abstracted illustrations'...
Best off just show you some work -
Right, I've got a show on in Croydon, it's at Matthews Yard (off Surrey Street), It's my 5th show, most others have been joint efforts or more tied into galleries where I've sold/displayed works.
Here are some of the 'Epics' as I call them, acrylic pieces based on creation/destruction/gods, that type of stuff!
A few of my (Centaur) Dioramas...
Photos from the 'Portrait of the artist with a box on his head' series...
The only clear photo I've got of some of pieces from 'Rainbow Entity Project 3' along with a random drinking tea) Adapted vintage paintings - I've got past the point of explaining these to people, people tend to take from them what they want, be its images of isolation, surveillance, monolithic aliens, blatant destruction of a long dead amateur artists creations... I've done about 70 of these pieces, most of the previous ones found there way to a couple of collectors in Germany...
Whilst I mention Germany, also currently got a show on there, one of the figures from the above paintings is here in full blown 3D! Another painting (Earthbase4000) can be seen in the background.
More stuff can be seen at www.jamesoliverart.net
Enjoy
Thankingyou x

When escaping the the dull routine of existence, I should be glad to gaze upon these whilst dabbling in my usual indulgences.

Good news! 7 of the 11 adapted vintage pieces (Rainbow Entity Project 3) have been marked as sold as well as 'My God! It's full of stars' (the acrylic painting of all the 3D cubes), That's me summer holiday paid for. Entered myself for the Turner Prize yesterday also, someones got to win it I guess, worth a punt, if you don't ask you don't get and all that!

Ah fuck I was thinking about this too long loved the dark blue piece Ha! Dark green and purple also remain but I'll get a new batch done soon as I can find the time and suitable pieces to work on.

I really like the vintage pieces - are they the 'Rainbow Entity Project 3'?
I'd love to see more of those - something I'd be very interested in owning if some are available

I really like the vintage pieces - are they the 'Rainbow Entity Project 3'? I'd love to see more of those - something I'd be very interested in owning if some are available They are and some are, there are loads more (sold ones) on various pages on my website www.jamesoliverart.netI tend to do them in batches, REP1 (12 pieces) and 2 (10 pieces) both sold to a gallery in Hamburg, lots of individual (30?) ones are scattered across the world, think I've done and sold 60 in total. They are proving quite collectable and from an artistic point of view are very satisfying to do when they work out! People like the fact that they are all 'one offs' and I don't do print runs. Was looking at killing the whole series off and doing one last 'Gold' one (a bit like a rare Pokemon card) and putting it up for auction but there's still life in it, I'm very aware I don't want to milk it dry though!

This is REP1 which found it's home in 'Oberfett' gallery in Hamburg, Germany. ...and REP2 which also went out in that direction. The owner has sold some pieces on but only to people that have agreed he can borrow them back at a later date when the whole sets are required for later showing again.

Currently having that post show funk where I'm actually enjoying not making but if I stick around here (which I probably will) you'll soon see when new stuff is released.
