Hey everyone.
I know I'm late to the party, but Daniel silk's changes are just becoming so restrictive I thought I'd show my face on here a little more!
Hi to friends old and new!

Welcome Don't know what the boss is up to next door, but he should maybe listen to some of the long standing members there, before they all leave. I think it's an annual clean up thing going on, seems to happen at this time of year

Funny how the noobs are becoming disenchanted. I'm still banned from UAA, but I do wonder why so many of the longer-standing members have continued to line his pockets.

I still post there, but the Bannings are over the top.
Most people use their phones to check these sites an go to 'recent or new posts'. The problem over the other site is it just rammed full of sales threads which more than often get detailed and 20 posts of arguing ensues over prices.
I said a while back that the sales threads should stay as they are but moved off the 'new posts' section, this would have less people chirping in. And leave them argue in a sales section only.
What's happened now is people can't comment at all. So the thread dies, this will annoy the people solely there to flip and sell..
Best thing about here is hardly any sales and if there is bitching it gets quahsed. Also no 'price check' threads also.

I have gained so much from that forum over the years including buying and selling art. In fact, I've only ever sold art at cost price on there. Currently got my miss universe up for sale at market value but everything else has been at release or near to release. Encouraging conversation, good or bad, makes a forum thrive. Why someone would want to discourage it is beyond me

Lets not argue about how places should be run its above our control anyway. Welcome to the forum also..Cheers

When people were able to comment on sales threads, there was loads of information, discussion, advice and banter. I could browse that section for hours and it seems (from first impression) there are more active users on that forum. 2 - knowledge. I have learnt so much over the last few years from that forum. From learning what artists to buy to learning about when and where to buy. 3 - commeradery. Although there is plenty of bitching, people tend to do the right thing by each other most of the time. There's definitely respect between members when asking advice, helping out pricing something and trading/selling stuff. All traits are probably the same on here, it's just I'm used to that and it's probably a little bigger in terms of members and usage. That's all! I'm sure I'll grow to love this place just as much

I'll sometimes post, which invariably pisses people off, but that says more about the present members than me. There's very little of any value posted these days. One or two long standing members are worth listening to, but overall it's more force of habit that draws me there. A forum's only as good as its members, and as time moves on and the quality of art/discussion etc deteriorates, the members with something of value to contribute just move on. No point getting worked up about it - we all move on.

There was back in the days of the old ebay forum that morphed into the Banksy forum a whole different context to the forum, argument, great knowledge, help, sharing and so on. It was a very good forum with very good members and then........................the usual knobheads, hangers on joined even though even some of them played a part and then.......................it attracted the bizarre mix of the ill informed, the shockingly bad taste, the odd person hoping for a return to days gone by (me included), the decent member amongst the morass of the former etc. Bizarre rules, forum fucking guardians some of which are utter pricks and so on...............

the idea that a forum built around a criminalised art forum is subject to heavy censorship, probabalyt rooted in click through monetarisation has been a constant source of amusement to me. I can cope with pricks, I can cope with right wring pricks, I can even handle arrogant right wing pricks as long as they have had a think about things.I cannot cope with profit driven arseholes. I get that every day at work
THis place is utter shit for selling things, you tight cunts

I was first banned from there in about 2010, mainly due to my distaste at and disquiet about the behaviours previously mentioned. I find the proprietor to be a loathsome, dishonourable individual, duplicitous and dishonest. Moreover, his support of equally despicable individuals and facilitation of the fleecing of the less knowledgeable members, frankly, odious.
I would liken it to a pub when you first start drinking. Initially, they are all marvellous but, when you find out your landlord waters down the beer, overcharges you and has no nuts, you don't go back...

I think age has something to do with it. An awful lot of recent social media adopters on boards seem to have no real tact or wit about them and are unable to reign in their clumsy arrogance. Old fuckers like me had to fine tune their conversation skills in workplaces, pubs and clubs, where a perceived slight uttered & received, could mean a trip to A&E. Some of the monkeys plying their blunt instruments of discussion on the dark star would find themselves with a season ticket for the local trauma ward if they behaved like that in meatspace. I don't think many of the logical positivists residing on the wrong side of the tracks get out very much.

Indeed it's a funny tactless old place akin as you say to a proverbial playground with a few bullies trying to keep people in order with something vaguely oppressive. The tone is slack , the changes tiresome , and the antics funny at times , I bought this now I want to sell it , but hey it's nice and it's popular , I'm only going to buy something else then sell that too... You won't mind will you ? The proprietor or could it be staff , are generally ( ok at least one of them is... That's about it ) ok but on occasion slip into some kind of coma as changes wash over the wall and ... Well there's some kind of vague uproar ... Resulting in no change.... For vague , read vacant ... Perhaps even vacuous , the kind of vague you hear when ... 'A' boss nobody likes cracks a joke down the pub at Christmas. It had so much potential , those days are gone now...( brp , tlsg , dare I say more ) Arrested motion is still plying it trade though and doing so gainfully , so I'll end this on a high note
