im not that bothered that this is not terribly original, nor that bothered that it's shit art, I'm not that bothered that fuckin soup cans have been done to death...I'm bothered by these fucking words ....
If art makes people stop you're either doing something right or something terribly wrong. Soup Can with a Tesco reduction sticker at Tate Modern.
The only reason people are looking is because it's near a Warhol no other reason

The soup can will be his 3rd release, the first is selling for 20+x cost. Clearly he's getting positive attention for his antics and prints. Second was a bit of a let down IMO but I like this soup can.. One of the only cans I actually like. Let's see some more from him before you start hating too hard.

Cmon, I mean you don't have to be Brian Sewell to think it is complete fucking shit. If you like it, wanna buy it, hang it and laugh at it - fair enough but it is not, by any definition 'good art', anymore than 'The Sun' is a good newspaper or Villa a good football team. Just 'cos they have the right notes does not mean they are in the right order...

There is a difference between good music and popular music. An objective one, regardless of you taste. Same for art. Also nothing wrong with painting cans that have been painted, and pulling stunts that have been pulled...but nothing to praise there Have nothing against the guy. He has some graphic design sense and a nice little tag, but there I see no artistic process happening here. David Guetta of the art world ? |
