Ok, I have been wondering about this a while now and never seen this topic in a thread anywhere before. Maybe because it is a hot topic and nobody dares to talk about it? Or is this just fiction in/for the art buying crowd? I see people saying better get my bot ready just before a print release on the Banksy forum.. But do they really? And if so, did they build it them selfs? Are they buying the BOT?
I know it is done in the Sneaker buying collecting scene... like this: =https://www.nikeshoebot.com/ But is this even possible for the art scene?
I guess this is your chance to come clean!

I actually looked into this a few months ago. I miss everything i try for so decided if i couldn't beat the bot bastards i would join them. From my limited research it is extremely hard to buy one. Sneaker drops use them as they're built for one site (nike.com usually). I found a few people online who would be able to build me one but like the trainer cheats it would only work on a specific site, such as graffitiprints or pow etc. No one could build one that i could finetune before release and add onto a specific page. I didnt have one built as £180 for a site specific one was too much but if the right release happens i may consider it.
I also most probably looked in the wrong places, I have no ICT skills what so ever, and was probably being jipped at the 180 asking price. If someone does have a guy who knows a guy who builds decent ones, i would love an intro..most of you know i'm here for my walls and not a profit.

BOTs exist... Case in point: I had carted the latest (dislocated shoulder, two-tittted (on one tit), wronged nail) Fairey print... I got to paypal and then I got stuck in purgatory for a good 15 minutes... F5ing like a mad man. All to end up with an empty cart. Oh well. Them are the breaks. OAN: Will love to buy a print from you... Or OG (unstretched, as posting it would kill me).

Just drop me a line and we can see what we can do with shipping prices ;-)

I was speaking to a mate who has a small web development business about this bot thing the other day. His view was although it is possible to do, the bot would have to be built for the relevant site that the drop occurs. So it's not as straight forward as people think. I always assumed that the Yanks have faster internet hence they get a seemingly disproportionate amount of the big releases. Or maybe they just like posting on message forums more.

I can speak for one Yank that missed out on several drops this year, though I never got anything in the cart. I just couldn't get one in spite of being there on the second and refreshing constantly. I did have a Shep seem to be disappear from the cart once, but I wasn't as interested in the print as I was in testing if I could actually get one, and I delayed and assumed that caused it.
But it's heartening to know that at least some others are stuck as well.

Worth remembering they do have a population of circa 320 million verses the uk's 64 million.

So you really think a BOT stole one from you? Would this be possible? ... I don't know if bots were the reason or my connection was spotty... It was easy enough to cart in TWO different browsers and get through the PP site, but then it would stall... Will send you a message shortly.
