The only, albeit tenuous, connection between urban art and Käthe Kollwitz is that she's Banksy's favourite artist; "Partly because her drawing style is so beautiful and partly because she thought being an artist was self-indulgent crap and became a doctor in an orphanage instead." However, tomorrow is the 70th anniversary of her death so I thought that now was a good time to post some of her work. I love the fact that her work just cuts right through the crap to the issues that are genuinely important in the world and that it eerily feels like you're looking into someones soul when you see her work.
