Hi guys, My best mate is getting married and since he is a big Banksy fan I thought about offering him a Banksy related wedding present. Looking at what could remain affordable for me yet somehow original, I thought about the bank notes that he produced for the Notting Hill Carnival a few years ago and the Dismaland ones. Looking at prices online, it seems that these vary quite a lot for such items. I'm therefore asking here for advice: - Can a £10 bill be considered as original as this was given for free, unsigned and there is no PC certificate for this?
- They are several bill sold on ebay for instance: how to ensure these are originals and note photocopies or something?
- What would be a fair price for a £10 bill?
- Any trusted source you know from whom I could get one ?
- Is this (i.e.: offering a £10 Banksy note to my fiend) a good idea at all ?
Thanks for your feedback! David

they're great and would make a great present, but to honest, assume all of the ones on eBay are fake (there might be exceptions).... buy one from a reputable forum member... ask for high-res photos and post them here... we can let you know if it's the real deal... they were lithographed, not ink jet printed, so it's actually pretty easy to tell a real from a fake as long as you have a quality photo or scan to work with... it's all in the details

Thanks for the good advice. And what do you think would be a fair price ? Any forum member willing to sell one by any chance btw? Thanks again.

I'd say $200 should be a fair price, given how many are out there, how many were made, and what they are, but expect to pay more like $3-400 for a legit one. Banksy collectors are crazy, so I hear

Hi Guys, I found this on ebay which seems quite real. I asked the vendor for high res pics and this is what I got. Looking at the details and the positioning of the elements it could be a real one. Dimension: 7.6 x 14.3cm, offset printed on heavy paper. What do you guys think? Thanks!

I think I'd be careful if the seller has sold lots of the same item in the past and is still selling a few
Maybe you could ask how they came by them all or how many they still have
I couldn't say if the pictures are genuine or not, but even if it is - it's the same picture advertising each one they are selling
I think they are tricky to buy because there are so many fakes - I wish I had one too but don't think I'd risk one from ebay

I've never owned one either. Wouldn't buy any of them on ebay unless Lazarides was the seller.

Clever to photograph it on the pow packing paper Not an expert but I doubt that you can still find a real one on ebay...

Thanks guys! Doubtful as well especially due to the fact that it seems that the vendor is selling those for more than one year and actually sold quite a few of them so wonder how he got them ... It's really tuff to find and the more I look for, the more I realise how tricky this is as at the end of the day, even on a reputable auction platform or gallery nothing would guarantee that you buy an original...

your best bet in getting a real one is someone on the forum letting go of one, making friends with Laz, or spending a ton at POW
