been asked this a bunch before, so here it is for the record.... a (better than most) fake on the left, a real one on the right. 600 DPI scan... besides the color and crispness being off, the two most telling things you can't really see unless you scan them or have superhero vision: a) that "honeycomb" like pattern that's on the real ones - from the printing process... fakes will have a fainter version, if one at all - it will fade more with each scan/copy generation away from the original b) a couple random spots of red sprinkled in now full 600 DPI scans of both... hope that settles it for once and for all. don't buy one unless the seller can give you a good quality scan first Real: Fake:

don't worry - unless they have a commercial offset-litho printer and the original digital file, there's no way to make ones that look legit... plus these are "only" 600dpi - I could've gone much higher plus I didn't scan the back lol

Digi printing from a scan of the litho print will result in a general fuzzy look with a bit of texture on the printed areas (as seen in your pics).

Look at the completed listing of this arse on the bay. They said they grabbed a handful at Notting Hill. That's some big hands! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282318486944

I agree, but once something is posted in the internet it is no longer yours, I always add some kind of markings on images as I know they were mine and someone else won't be able to use them. At least not without the mark.

Love how this dude has added the weight for added authenticity – rocking in at a phenomenally accurate 1.34g. Guess he's an atomic physicist or something...

Shame they didn't spend as much thought on trying to cut them straight. Maybe they needed to be trimmed to get them to 1.34g

It's that attention to detail that makes it the work of a true artisan.

Hi, I bought one of these 12 years ago from TomTom, which I think is a now closed dealers in London. I've always wondered if it is legit, so I was hoping to post a photo here and see what the forum thinks. This is my first post over here so apologies if I shoulda done an introduction thing first but what better way to start in a new forum than potentially finding out I spent £135 on a fake

cannot confirm id the di faced tenner is legit- but if it is from 12 years ago, then probably good- one thing though, TomTom were the subject of all kinds of scurrilous talk at the time and their letterheads were used as COA for many, many faked and backdoor prints that made their way onto the secondary market. I am not sure TomTom were actually involved in this, but the opportunity to use a recently defunct gallery branding for ersatz legitimisation was too good an opportunity to miss. In short, A TT receipt should be treated with much caution

That's good to know, thanks. To clarify, are you saying that TomTom was generally legit but that people used their name to sell as if their provenence was from TomTom? (if that makes sense!) I visited the physical shop to buy it, and have a hand written receipt and the visa card receipt, so I'm ok....?
I'm not intending to sell it, so if people are saying that as long as i know i bought it from TomTom because i was in their store, its good enough for me.

This pattern should be obvious when you look closely/magnify:

There's a very definite line across the top of the tenner, as you've identified and the bottom of it is correspondingly clipped compared to the full example above. Never noticed that before. And iggywiggy I'll do the magnifying glass thing when I go back to my parents next ha, they are of an age to have lots of those lying around. Boggles my eyes that pattern
