Always a positive thing unless you are a wound up cunt like that issue Geddes had a while back with one of his releases and had to pull it. Here's two I have.
Interesting point – more info? (If you can discuss?)

I know some artists do give the owner of the OG some compensation in some way. And not because the value of the OG drops but if you buy an 1/1 OG you also have some rights in some cases. In my opinion it would be the best to ask if the owner of the OG is OK with it before he goes on with printing.

Think I need to leave this forum as I am the only member who hasn't had an original turned into a print Good advice above though and agree as your OG must be the pick of the bunch to get selected

I would be honoured to have one of my originals released as a print and agree that it surely raises the profile of your piece.

Interesting point – more info? (If you can discuss?) It was actually his Hypostasis release. Details can be seen here on his blog. jeremygeddesart.blogspot.com/MAY 11 On the Hypostasis print release A couple of days ago we announced that Hypostasis would be released as a timed release, but we've changed our minds. After much discussion we feel releasing Hypostasis as a print would be a betrayal to those who have the original Red Cosmonaut print. Hypostasis was a commissioned piece intended as a reimagining of the themes of Red Cosmonaut. As such it has a very similar feel and quality to the Red Cosmonaut. Our prints provide an archive of the progression of my painting, cataloguing where I've been and where I am going. Hypostasis was an enjoyable painting to create, and a fun place to revisit, but its release as a print doesn’t fall within our mantra for what should be released. We're sorry to be changing our minds, and I apologise to those who were looking forward to this release. At the end of the day we are driven by what feels ethical, and this is a decision we feel we needed to make. thanks, Jem

Those eelus canvas's look brilliant!
To the OP, you should feel priviledged that you have a great original that the artist views as special & worthy enough of a print run. I am sure if you ask they will let you have an ap / pp etc.

Agree with all the previous it def adds value and kudos etc. think artists only really need to ask the owner if it's a commission. As then there is an element that it was a personal piece.
Like a couple on the old board I have an eternal reflection I bought from MW in his earlier days on the old board. Main reason I bought it was so liked it and most of the cost was to raise money for charity.
It was quite nice when everyone was all over the prints and zi had my one. Although must say was always jealous myself if those with the aluminum one from before mine

I'm in the same boat, as just commissioned a piece from jj adams, the gallery told me jj loves the theme and bring it out and print later next year, was a tad unsure but listening to all your arguments for the benefits of copying to a print run, I suppose I'm quite flattered. Great thread, saves me the trouble of posing the question

Hey guys, I could do with a bit of advise please... I've purchased an original that I've not received yet. I've been told it's going to be made into a print series. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing? is it ok to have an original that's been turned into a print series or is it better to have an original that hasn't? Thanks in advance dani x Can you tell us what it is yet?
