OK, where do folk find their inspiration? I fancied having my first try and doing some stencil art, I actually managed to think of something. I sat down and roughed together some concept art - black white and some shades of grey - tweaked it a bit. Then thought, would I want this on my wall - its a bit political - and the answer was no... so what would be the point of doing it... Some public wall 10 feet high yes... on my wall as a painting no. So..... its so long since I actually did any art rather than decorated something.... i'm finding it hard to be original and creative. What do people use for inspiration? How do you find your muse?

Ok, been thinking.. I have an idea, something I am comfortable with.. I have done some tatty dystopian vehicles before... example. I am thinking of doing a couple more, but themed as personal rides for street artists in the dystopian future. Now as these may include hand painted versions of other peoples street art... to be polite it would be good to ask approval from the artist. But if I can't do that would it come under fair use? Its something I stopped doing a few years ago.. mainly because some meds made my hands shake too much for fine paint work. But i'm off the meds now, and now got some much needed glasses (eyesights going as i'm getting old)

Think the main question is if you want to sell your art for profit or if you just want to make art... If it's second you can do what ever you like! That's why I love art if it's about selling art I can't help you because I don't get the borders between homage, inspiration and rip off. Guess it always matters who is doing what and why...

Yeah, thats the problem, I had an idea of a tatty "stik vehicle" with stik inspired figures painted as if hanging on for dear life.
A Lora Zombie street piece .... which is becoming a strong contender... a Shepard piece featuring the Giant Star logo. Each bit should have the inspiration artists name on it somewhere.
Going back through my pc pic folders I find I have saved a few Hebru Bradleys (or what look like his) too from the times before I knew the names. loads of art which i have no idea who the artists are, but i liked when i saw it.
Initially they would be for me - but who knows in the future, someone might like one or two. I'd rather not upset folk who's art I admire, but I doubt they would strip, dissasemble, and re-paint toy cars, so they won't be taken as fakes.
