After seven of eight seconds of hard thought I'm going Lowry, followed by Hockney.
J Jones really doesn't like Banksy, eh...?

i love the snark in that Jonathan Jones piece. "Britain’s best-loved artwork is a Banksy. That’s proof of our stupidity" Funny thing is I agree with probably more than 50% of what he wrote.

"Banksy the art equivalent of a tweet" I assume the Mahābhārata is the world greatest poem, then, and he has no time for haiku...

here's the thing. Banksy pieces are the modern day equivalent of a political cartoon (think The New Yorker), BUT, the very notion that art doesn't have to only be for intellectuals is the most powerful thing about it.

Martin Rowson (The Guardian). One of the greatest political cartoonist of all time. Often references great works and artists. He has a thorough and understandable contempt for Paul Dacre, the troll in chief of the Daily Heil. I love this cartoon, and the brilliant Escher reference...

Incredible, without any comparison they choose the easy side because people don't know. Speak to the youths about Vermeer or Van Gogh or Courbet ?! Nobody Knows them even their parents occupying at watching tv , news and advertisements, reading the Miror and the Sun ! How to compare Turner Vacon or Banksy ?! Gwrb is even not the best Banksy, but one of the most childish for me : kid , balloon , air... a French made a great movie about this story, after the second war ! This vote is silly. It's like to take a classical paint on a cake box and to say that is the best ! I have nothing against Banksy, I love the man, outrageous, rebel, agitator, ironic ! A genius. But no, art is not feed on/ for/ from Tv and media ! Please , listen to this and you will understand
