The diatribe of the year! still plenty of time for I hate thatcher to take the lead I can't say I disagree with you. I would be far less pessimistic if every single print release wasn't instantly swooped upon regardless of whether the person likes it or not. Happy flipping 2018!

I would be far less pessimistic if every single print release wasn't instantly swooped upon regardless of whether the person likes it or not. Happy flipping 2018! i wrote a really long and detailed response, but somehow managed to accidentally delete it so here's the short version.... I think POW genuinely started with the best of intentions, but they sort of created a monster, but it was the passive "collectors" - people who see no contradiction of buying "street art" as a status symbol or as an investment, yet don't seem to know the history or the ethos of what graff originally stood for - let that monster out of the cage. and now it will probably never go back in the fact that some truly shitty prints would sell out instantly yet prints by amazing artists like Bast, Pins, and Blu sat around for years is very telling. It's hard to think of that as all POW's fault, though they're certainly not not-guilty. In the end, what I'll take away most from POW was that they introduced me to a lot of artists, and because of that, I've been able to become real life friends with many of you guys over the years... the memories are worth more than even the most expensive, hand-finished, multi-colorway'ed, glittered up, VIP only, AP stretch version prints

speaking of, just noticed this new/old PINS popped up on the site today I really like it - nice mix of his old, Starry Eyes style and the newer stuff, but looks like they're already gone (?)

There are things poping up on the Pow site i've never seen before. The bear faced insect for example. Just shows how much i don't know probably... Only two or three days left now, anybody thinking that something special will happen? Staying with my prognose of an unannounced happening at the store tomorrow. Only for the locals and some cool stuff for sale but not online. But like i said, what do i know...

Preserved for posterity: THE POW STORY POW was started sixteen years ago by a loose collection of graffiti artists and illustrators shunned by the controlling influences of the day. Working from borrowed office space in East London we set about producing, promoting and distributing our own art. The invention of the internet and the cardboard tube enabled us to circumvent the centuries-old grip of the established art world and we laid waste to their cronyism and vested interests and good taste. We delivered a new generation of art directly into people’s homes. Well, the Royal Mail did most of it. Somewhere along the way we mastered our craft and many POW prints have become benchmarks within the industry. We pioneered the use of foil block, embossing and glitter colours and we were the first in the industry to use non-solvent based inks. We never put anything down the drain except effort. Throughout it all POW has remained an independent, artist-run operation, organising landmark exhibitions and pioneering the concept of a shit pop-up shop long before it became fashionable. However, inevitably disaster struck - and many of our artists became successful. Street Art was welcomed into mainstream culture with the benign shrug of a hippy parent. The clocks didn’t stop, society didn’t seem to improve or even care and the art we produced became another tradeable commodity, despite our best efforts at poor customer service and price fixing. Regrettably some POW prints have now become worth tens of thousands of pounds. So this is it, the writing is on the wall. POW has proved unwilling or unable to become the sort of professional retail outlet that services a demand whether our hearts are in it or not. Its time to call it quits. Well, it was time to call it quits about three years ago, but hey... Thanks for your interest, your patience and your custom. Please join us in our next venture. x POW True Indeed!!

Banksy got listed again under artists. With one hour left there are three plausible options for me: 1) something special will drop, sale ends maybe 2) something cheap will drop, stickers, soup or paint pot 3) nothing happens and they are just sitting together, having a few beers and laughing about all the people who are constantly refreshing the site... Not sure why, but I have a feeling that it is option 3 Edit: actually I meant festival and not sale ends... Whatever, nobody cares

I missed the final countdown as I was flying. thank fuck. lots of people seem to have believed there was going to be some kind of farewell Banksy dump it seems.
Its strange, as I was going over family pics over the weekend as I was installing a new desktop PC - the family seems to have spent an inordinate amount of time interacting with POW / banksy in various forms - ghettos, Willow street, cans, dismaland and the like from when the kids were babies. it has been quite a ride so far. Looking forward to the next events - and there will be many i believe! thanks POW.

Ha yeah i was one of them. I was kinda doubtful they would put anything exciting up, but you couldn't miss hitting F5 in the final hour of pow haha.
Kinda sad to see it go. As crazy as it sounds, that place was my first real introduction to any kind of art. Before that i wasn't really paying attention.

I f5ed the hell out of it too Hoped there would be a sticker pack or other funny cheap stuff but it is cool as it is! I'm glad that I got the chance to have the "pow feeling" I had read so many about before all this. I took part in a lottery for a Banksy print and f5ed the homepage for several hours not really knowing why. Got a cool Banksy item with soup cans from the original source and some other cool stuff like my gold peg print I didn't had the chance to be at the store, visit a show or to queue for hours in front of it because I was some years too late to learn all about it. But nevertheless they revived the beast for one last time and I really enjoyed it!

the gehttos were great but the queueing was wank. I went back the afternoon after an all nighter and scored a second flags with no hassle - it was an editon of 1000, so not unexpected.
The good thing is this is the death of the F5 and bot crowd. I am sure there will be art available in the future but hopefully for those who can be arsed to turn up and get involved.More difficult of you are overseas I suppose, but the model has moved on.
Keep an eye on the WOH for imminent happenings.
