Not that I'm into the work, but 'referencing' others seems to be the done thing in certain circles . Some get away with it and other are ripped to pieces. This is true. I would hope that the ones that get away with it do so because they are adding in a positive way to the global art world rather than just mindlessly churning out any old image for monetary gain. I've quoted the example before of Miss Bugs before that use loads of other artists as inspiration but do it in an innovative way. Miss bugs adding bits from others is one thing, I mean more the type of art that is urban by numbers. |

Talking, walking, the whole shooting match but just because you borrow something doesn't mean you have to be a total wanker, not everyone walking and talking is a total wanker, quite the reverse. But even on a sub atomic level there is no wit and ingenuity to Jboy's / Freerange's output and that's because he's a manipulative fuckwit, not an artist. And then i see that someone's flipping WCP, so peoples ignorance really knows no bounds... And yes I know it's poor form to start a sentence with a connective, grammer police. |
