Tales Of Art gallery is proud to announce the opening of “POSTDIGITAL”, on Saturday 10th March, at 5PM, a group show with: German Tellez, Milo Hartnoll, Paolo Psiko and Seppe De Meyere.
Glitch (pronunciation: ˈgliʧ ) is a short-lived fault in a system, such as a transient fault that corrects itself, making it difficult to troubleshoot, particularly common in computing and electronics industries. Glitch art is the practice of using digital or analog errors for aesthetic purposes.
“POSTDIGITAL” wants to show different forms of glitch art, through the art of four artists that incorporate those elements, using different references, mediums, style and painting techniques. Thanks to a collaboration with “Musei Civici” of Imola, one of the reference images that has been reworked and glitched by the artists is the “Portrait of a twentyfive year old gentleman” by Bartolomeo Cesi, painted in the late Cinquecento and part of the permanent collection of Museo di San Domenico.
German Tellez, born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1986. After graduating with honors as a Visual Artist with Fine Arts Emphasis, at Pontificial Xaverian University, he finds a professional interest in painting after studying with Nicolás Uribe. Most of his work has been deeply constructed from the curiosity on the nature of cruelty and violence, analyzing the psychological aspects and the way that makes society, nature, culture and religion among others, become part of the problem or the solution. Although some of German’s work can be seen as pessimistic, for the artists they’re a doorway that prevents us from succumbing to the worst part of our nature, by understanding our conscience and instinct as the great weapons and tools that they are. Currently he lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia.

Milo Hartnoll, born in London, England, in 1990. After graduating in Illustration, at Brighton University he focused on painting, exploring the human within the “broken” and celebrating the qualities of the imperfect. Through a vast range of painting techniques and processes, Milo researches for a visual language that encapsulates the beautiful and honest qualities of humanity, rebelling against the hyper-perfect obsessed attitudes of modern culture, that serve only to detach us from one another. He currently lives and works in Brighton, England.

Paolo Psiko, born in Turin, Italy, in 1982. Self-taught artist, he’s a muralist painter, who perfected in the recent years his techniques and style, with particular interest for pixel art, glitch art and the idea of “splitting” the images. He’s part of the artist collective Vida Krei (VKB). Since 2008 he lives and works in Ferrara, Italy.

Seppe De Meyere, born in Bruges, Belgium, in 1994. Graduated in Fine Arts and Painting at KASK School of Art in Ghent, Belgium. His work characterizes itself substantially through deformation, finding inspiration in paintings of old masters, used as a matrix and reference and subsequently reinterpreted in an attempt to understand these masters in a more profound way. Triggered by atmospheres of tragedy, eeriness and a sense of the antique sublime, his paintings form a slow digestion of these subjects, projected through the vices of our contemporary corruptions and deterioration. The artist tries to inject the virus of our present day in the ancient forms that, for decades long, have been stabilized in our minds, culminating in the incarnated oxymoron of an archaic modern reality. He currently lives and works in Berneem, Belgium.
