Do we really need this adverts? What, the bitcoin ones? Not an advert, it's an advice for better and healthier living.

Why can't I link both accounts to my pro board account? So fucking annoying. I think that works if you log in with an email address, rather than a username, also you need to be registered with the same email on both sites... It works for me. UmBongo

Anyways, in all seriousness, I think you've got it wrong, @mayo.
From what I've seen, much of the discourse has been quite intelligent, with none of the usual shit flinging that one might find over on "the other board". I think a lot of the people that transitioned are opinionated, but how is that a bad thing? I like seeing people with different tastes that can argue a view point about a particular work analytically without insulting anyone. Over on the other side, if someone has a dissenting opinion, they are written off as a troll, while the hype machine rolls along, propping up some genuinely terrible and derivative artwork.
As for this forum being a "copy", all I can say is not really. It is not the first urban art forum and it certainly won't be the last.
I didn't see what happened regarding "thug", so I can't really speak to that. The only posts I've seen disappear are the ones from Guests. It was made quite clear that people need to be logged in to post on the forum. If people want their opinions heard, take the 30 seconds to sign up.
With respect to the "the charliebrown incident", the first decision around here was that this wasn't going to simply be a place for people to come flog their wares, and what do you know, charliebrown shows up, and their first post is a for sale thread. No attempt at all to be part of the community and engage in any of the discussion here. People had a problem with that well before their actual identity was known. Given that this particular individual has a history of using forums as their own personal for sale site, without ever giving anything back, I would wholeheartedly recommend a ban. I've spoken with this individual privately about the matter previously, and they made it quite clear that they don't give a shit and they think they are free to do whatever they want. Unfortunately, that is not going to fly here. The choice is hers, really. I hope she decides she wants to stay and join the discussion.
Lastly, what exactly is the "personal gain" here? Rather than complain daily over on the other forum, someone took the initiative to provide a playground for those who no longer wanted to be part of a dictatorship. Everything that has gone on here structurally, and with respect to rules has been done as a community, and everyone's opinions have been heard and considered.

just for the public record, "Thug" was banned for posting private PM's and not for his dissenting point of view, although it was clear he was just hear to start shit

You arrived negative and left negative @mayo. You didn't really give it much time, and I don't see the benefit in announcing you're leaving. But good for you and I hope you manage to find a home you feel comfortable in. I'm on both forums. There are pros and cons with both. Nothing will ever be perfect. There will be laughs, there will be tears. Hopefully more laughs than tears. And I wouldn't say that anyone "stole" the UAA forum. There's been enough talk of appropriation in art recently, but I don't think it's reasonable to think that there won't ever be other or similar art forums. If people are unhappy, I can see them going away, using bits they like, leaving out the bits they don't. Why wouldn't they? Any "trolling" (fuck me, I HATE the word Troll and its massive misuse) will eventually calm down (from both sides). And hopefully there won't be any UAA/NBF raiding parties. "I go back to the Banksy Forum - if any of you do come back I hope you all make as much effort to be nice to each other as you have here" I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not with that comment. Sarcasm often goes over my head. Both receiving and giving. All the best @mayo. I don't think that's your name on UAA, but I hope we get along well over there. I love you and whether it's here or the other place, I hope to exchange artistic ideas and thoughts with you again in the future. All the best, James x Good post. Too many drama queens on these forums.

'here is something fundamentally wrong when you steal someone's ideas and are applauded for it and I think for me it is just that. '
You've got to be kidding me.
Spoken as someone with absolutely no knowledge of where ALOT of information on UAA came from, there was an ebay forum prior to the banksy forum. Silky 'appropriated' a lot of information from there. FACT.

I think Mayo was just coming on here to stir up s*** and is quite possibly a guardian/mod on UAA (maybe even FR himself). There's a few people on there who'd love to see this place fail.
Just my personal suspicion and I might be wrong.

Funny thing is forums are fundamentally the same, whatever the topic, esp when using a platform so can't really see mayos argument

Recent posts option should be newest first, as should threads in boards. It's only when you open a thread that its oldest post first

It's handy this way for people who spend far too much time here. It saves us having to trawl through pages of stuff we've already read if we can just click 'recent posts' or 'recent threads' and see all the new fresh immediately, at the top, innit.

Its not changing loading habits. Which should jump to newest post. Just means the 1st post would be on page 1.??

ads seem to have come back... working on figuring out why apparently we've had almost 70,000 page views since 4/24, so we went over the limit... will have to figure something else out

ads seem to have come back... working on figuring out why Fed Must say I don't mind them personally...so not a big issue for me. As more members and the creation of more pages etc happens think you will struggle to stop them long term. Must say I also do not mind gallery ads, the ones here but really disliked the ebay ones on UAA

Doesn't bother me either, esp. if it helps out the site in any way.

If it's cool with everyone, we're going to let the ProBoards ad run for the time being. We're going to wait a few weeks and see how many page views we are averaging (PB's ad-free charges are based on page views). That way we'll have a better handle on everything and can make a more informed decision on what to do

I do not find the ads at all bothersome and, to the extent they make it easier to administer the site, that seems like a good trade.
