Millo and Hikari Shimoda The show will open at Dorothy Circus Gallery LONDON, 35 Connaught street W22AZ on Friday 14 June 2019 at 6.30pm and at Dorothy Circus Gallery ROME, Via dei Pettinari 76 - 00186 on Saturday 15 June at 6.30pm. The colourful and disarming artworks by the Japanese painter Hikari Shimoda will intertwine with the emotional and poetic street art of the Italian MILLO, filling up Dorothy Circus Gallery’s walls in both Rome and London. The sparkling and sweet demeanour of Hikari Shimoda’s child subjects is equally enchanting, disarming and full of possibilities. Cheery, bright, colourful, magical, melancholy, and even dark, Hikari Shimoda’s portraits of starry-eyed children carry a different meaning for anyone who looks at them. I wish you would be able to see her new artworks in the flesh as they are very materic and magic, with a multitude of layers of colours that create a daydream effect. Similarly, MILLO's art reflects on the fragility of human existence and on the importance of each individual’s personal growth in relation to the social and urban context in which we live. Millo constantly investigates our surroundings, the place and time we live in, our space in the world and within the walls of our homes.
