Ben Wilson, AKA The Chewing Gum Man has a Kickstarter program, Ben is an artist famous for his beautiful miniature paintings on chewing gum https://instagram.com/p/B1ZsIo-hmga As Ben’s work is for everyone, we thought it made sense to reach out and crowdfund his book. Ben wants all his work to be accessible and inclusive – so we’re producing a 96-page A6 paperback which you can purchase for just £5 plus postage. To help fund the project we’re also going to produce a special hardback, in a limited edition of 250, which Ben will sign and number with a personal dedication, which you’ll be able to purchase for £30. There’s no way that we can fit all 600+ paintings in the book, and we’re working with Ben to bring together a representative selection of the works into print. The book will also contain an introduction and other short texts. If we meet our target – in the following two months we will finalise the design with Ben, and send it to print. Books will be ready October/November this year and make a fantastic souvenir for visitors, a special book for art lovers, or unique Christmas present. Kickstarter details: Link

I think £5 pledge is a no brainer, even £30 for a signed hard back copy sounds good to me.

received my book yesterday... it's fantastic, though I wish it weren't so tiny I guess given the size of the paintings, it's probably appropriate? Think I posted here a couple of years ago (who knows... ), about nearly falling over Ben, as he was busy painting outside a 'spoon' on Mortimer Street. He told me that he started painting directly onto the trodden in gum on the floor, to avoid being pestered by the police. Apparently as it wasn't 'officially part of the street', there was nothing they could do to stop him. Suspect it's also about a nice smooth surface for his insanely detailed micro paintings. A real treat when you spot one. Beautiful – like little jewels. Wish I'd bought one of the books. Damn it!
