Its that time of year when your inbox, the press and all social media is a blizzard of “top 50” lists. So, Graffoto is going to wrap up the decade with a flashback through things that either blew our socks off or blew our circuits over the past 10 years. Cyrcle, Cept, Run, Faith 47, Mysterious Al, Rone, Pure Evil, Lost Cause
It’s not a best of or top 100 or any of that kind of presumptiousness, it is just a totally non scientific regurgitation of things that stuck in the memory from the past 10 yours. You will find Graffoto views street art through a very London centric prism but that’s cos it’s just the way things are, it’s the way Graffoto lived it.
ROA wip and buffed EINE, 2014 Also feat Tizer
The review started fine, the first instalment looked back at where street art kind of was at the beginning of the decade. Horfe, Roid 2010 Things have gone seriously tits up though with the second instalment published last week which was a decade in murals. D*Face, 2011. In.
You can judge me on this all you like and I welcome that but after skim browsing roughly 200,000 photos of street art taken over the decade, the moment a triumphant finger hit the print button came the instant realisation that clear and obvious candidates had been overlooked. What, for example, happened to Alexis Dias’ Octophant? And was it really so long ago?
La Pandilla aka Alexis Diaz, Octophant, 2013
Many, many more have been completely overlooked by an author who should have known better. Phlegm, 2011. Made The Cut Check it out, let the world (or at least, this forum) know what this half baked list has omitted. Then follow the next instalments, they’ll be just as biased, curtailed, crap and worthy of your scorn as well. Graffoto 10 Year Review Intro hereGraffoto A Decade Of Murals here
