Maybe a good solution would be to keep the comments on the sales threads although no artworks to be sold/flipped until 6 months from release date? Would cut out most of the bad comments and would discourage flipping ..... there's other forums much more suited to that elsewhere.

Just let em flip 6 months 6 hours what's the difference- it's still someone missing out either way. I think far more trouble comes from the over and under hype of pieces as this practice can lose people money, not just a piece of art they wanted. Wow that's a great price, I would never sell mine for that, your asking price is too high, how have these got that expensive? All these these are just examples of what can harm a sales for either the seller or the buyer. I think a good idea would be to have to prove your comment E.g great price should become great price there is one on gallery a for £xxxx Price way too high should become the last one sold on the bay for £xxxx this seems high. This is informative to both parties and what I would call the fairest way for transparency for seller buyer and window shoppers. Just a thought, never sold anything myself BTW but did try a FT once.

As much as I abhor rules, I do think a simple blanket ban on sales of artworks less than 6 months old would keep the forum nice.
Not because of the imposition of the rule, simply that those who seek to profiteer from the practice would have no place here as a result.

Oh, and another thing... The practice or allowance of selling for cost doesn't wash with me either. Time and time again I've seen members of the Cunt Ranch™ offer items at cost with resulting back-slapping for their good deeds, but what the poor idiots don't know is that this is only after the sellers have tried and failed to flip the item for profit on eBay. there is a place full of chochas, I better run there then

Death star? Is it the ugly boring cousin to the superior Nordic Star?

There has to be a certain amount of live and let live, nobody has to buy anything that is offered for sale.

I'd agree with 6 month ban on new release sales unless at initial release cost.

think the 6 months is not a bad idea at all. There are other places to sell new stuff and flip etc. likewise if people want to buy it they can go to those places....there not hard to find.
The good thing about the rule as it were is that it will make us less attractive to the sales market which is good. Remember the times when first joined UAA it was really a few galleries and just members trading with each other eg selling a piece they no longer wanted etc
But now members are running it like business etc.....sales threads....No Time Wasters. Flippers shouting on there etc.
As said before I do like galleries promoting shows and new work or special pieces they have. And members selling a piece etc this is all great
It's the Cowboys who get on my tits so think anything we can do to keep them away is good. As say let the other places deal with and welcome them
