John Tsombikos is known for initiating a memorial graffiti campaign after his best friend (nicknamed "BORF") committed suicide when he was 16 years old. Tsombikos found his grief therapy in spray painting a stencil of BORF's face and writing his name everywhere imaginable. In 2005 Tsombikos was arrested in Washington, DC. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, as well as hundreds of hours of community service, fines, and years of supervision. Tsombikos has exhibited works in the US and internationally. He draws and paints things addressing the cause / effect relationship between the despondency of his generation and the poverty of modern life, all while humorously searching for a transcendent buoyancy. ew Original from Borf. This new original work from our man Borf is huge. A three peice portrait of Seung-Hui Cho from the Virginia Tech Massacre done in happy stickers... only Borf could come up with something like this. If interested in the piece please email us at papermonster@mac.com for more info. Arcylic and Scratch n' Sniff Stickers on Wood Panels. Dimensions: 27 x 38 inches per panel, total of 3 papermonster.net/item.php?item=86

The only reason I referenced a time frame is because it was being addressed as 'new'
The difference between this and the moat piece is this is thought out and confronting as opposed to ill thought out and shocking for shocks sake - jps would be a good artist if he understood art

I don't mind his love of the horror genre either. The Breivik was a difficult one for me to get my head around though. Especially when he mentioned how he'd contacted Breivik to show him the work. We all make errors of judgement though. Live and hopefully learn and all that. Plus, he's apparently had a few tough times in his life, but turned it around, so that's good.

I don't think an artist can be judged purely on how well they can paint or cut a stencil, obviously though I was being flippant with my comment but quite frankly jps's work and attempts at notoriety make me think of tabloid journalism and fuck me off

Of course. There are some incredibly talented painters and artists that have absolutely nothing to say, or worse, some incredibly awful things to say. Being handy with a paintbrush, stencil cutter, chisel, etc, is one thing, but it doesn't give anyone a free pass to be a dick.
Edit: Well it shouldn't anyway.
