Hi all,
I'm looking to insure some of my collection and haven't done so before. I just called my insurer and they need a written valuation from a dealer before they can go ahead. Does anyone know of anyone who can carry out such a service?

Does anyone know of anyone who can carry out such a service? Have posted this in the other board before but hands down the best way to go is to use a blanket policy with reputable insurer that covers your total collection for a good set amount over its current value. In the event of a loss you then obtain the value of the piece / pieces in question then. It is the value of the piece at the time of the loss that is important not its current value. Also a futile process to have to amend your policy every time your banksy goes up in value, which could very well be numerous times a year. This method is very common and it what I use and what I have recommended to many others. Just keep good documentation (photos ect), purchase receipts and your COAs in a safe place preferably not where the art is kept.

Very valid point and it is an issue with Banksy in particular of late because of the constant changing value.

Thanks guys - great advice. I think I will get the Banksy covered now through my home contents insurance once I have the valuation through from Andy (who is an absolute LEGEND for accepting a Nepal donation) just to ensure i'm protected in the short-term. I'll then get a blanket policy set up to cover everything as outlined by Black Apple. Thanks!

Normally through the gallery a written insurance value is £30 per item as each item has to be done individually but i'll do it for min £10/e or as much as you want for the charity, if theres alot of works we can chat about an overall fee
