+++ GARDENER +++ morning all, your gardener here for those that give a monkeys I was dashboll in a previous life. Anyhow, I know we're not going to have too many issues here other that potential trolling. If anything out of order comes up, please either PM me or tag dashboll (@ forumgardener) in the offending thread. Piss-taking and messing around isn't trolling, being vindictive, telling new artists they are shit, racism, hate, etc is. Let's not get in debates with these people, just drop me a line. Right then, continue about your business people, and watch the fucking swearing please.

+++ GARDENER +++ telling new artists they are shit . [/quo] As long as we're allowed to freely critique artists new and old and challenge the norm...

Yeah of course @badrobot I could have explained that better
Just think single word responses like "shit" aren't helpful
critiqueing and challenging is what this place should be about just as you said

Can we please have a different forum from UAA!
Bans only as a last resort and some sort of system with warnings and a "naughty step" with temporary bans. And also a thread (where only admins can post) where all warnings and bans are published with an explanation.
Transparency, please.

I use a non-art related forum which operates a similar set of operating procedures. Needless to say, I am frequently on the 'naughty step' due to being rather gangsta and street. And hard.

And hard. i tend to agree - I've seen threads I've chipped in on blasted. whilst there may be valid reasons - nothing ... is not a good idea. I don't run with bad ideas. Bad ideas ... are not good. things which are not good ... ? well not saying anything is not a sign of agreement. (don't let's talk about mods over the road - "funboy three" country) I agree with transparency ... i disagree with, therefore, nothing= no comms = no explanation. UAA is fine UP to a POINT at which point - it's just as bad as a business which generally is not TRANSPARENT nor democratic. POW and PC are.. also not transparent... before anyone gets ... upset.

This place is meant to run like a democracy so let's give a few days for peoples views. Can un-ban easily enough, but getting rather pissed off at people really kicking fed. Jimmy saville comments for fucks sake, honestly it's not on.
Maybe I'm just overreacting, happy to take it on board if I am. I'm all for free speech, but personal abuse is just not on.
Let's hear ideas and we can go with what the majority think.

Most anything related to banning/deleting just draws attention and gives the idiots more ammo. There are definitely some things being said that are out of line, but the best response is to ignore it and let it go away. And I realize it's easy for me to say when I'm not the target.

My method for dealing with ridiculous or unproductive posts is just to use the block feature. Of course, it can lead to some funny results:
